AVIC-D3 Install Questions

I have searched and can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for.

Im getting the AVIC D3 and here are the questions.

I have a 06 SS/SC with Onstar and I want to keep it intact because i use the phone through my verizon service. Has anyone confirmed that the GMOS-LAN-04 harness works on the 06 to keep the factory onstar and pioneer speakers and sub intact.

If it works is there any special wiring needed.

Also what wire am i splicing into on the car to get the VSS signal for the navigation?

Lastly has anyone use the pac harness to keep the steering wheel controls intact and does it work.

Answers asap would be great, thanks

I always wonder why people go for the D3 and not the Z2. Z2 is a lot better, but I don't think I've seen one installed yet on a Cobalt, but quite a few D3's.

NVM, he's got one ^^^

yah but there arent many stereos that require taping into speed sensor wires n **** like that ...these avic's have like 7 or more different plugs that go into the back....seriously man...get a proffesional to wire this thing if u want every feature to work properly...and if u dont want to **** up your car.

here it is

my subs..

it took alot of cutting to fit a double din into a 1.5 din hole hahaha

Stop jacking the post, i have called them and they dont know, thats why im trying to ask on here. Isnt that what these forums were created for

then he said the GMOS-LAN-04 would work, but im still skeptical because it says 07+ cobalt and i know the wiring is diff on the 06 and 07 balts, thats why im asking.

yes it does work, i just got mine installed yesterday get a professional, the gms-lan-04 is the correct harness same one for the hhr, onstar will work, and you need to cut the plastic by the firewall to get that radio in........hopefully this helps, o yea cructchfield sells an adapter so you can keep your steering controls, its like 54.00 and its made especially for pioneer radios

ok but basically the gmos-lan-04 worked without switching pins in the harness. That was my worry. All i have to do now is figure out where to tap into the vss wire and the install shouldnt be bad at all

also what plastic by the firewall are you talking about.

people have it installed and havent said that before

ok also do you have an 06 or an 07, i need to know if it works on the 06 we know it works for the 07

called metra so everyone know.

gmos-lan-04 does not work on the 06.

it is very complicated to keep onstar working on the 06 cobalts.

hge said if you dont car about onstar use the XSVI-2103 and just hook up the amp on wire to your new head unit and your good to go

no detailed help for the cobalt on that site, the stero is independant i just want to retain my factory pioneer and onstar, if not just the factory pioneer if possible.

Im still skeptikal because the instructions for the xsvi say it cant retain the factory amp

yea i have an 07, gms-lan-04 does work on the 06 from what i understand, no you do not have to mess with the pins, the harness just plugs in, try using an HHR harness best advice i can give you......

yo will retain premium sound with the harness you just need to tap into the speaker wires from your stock harness........i just put aftermarket amps in there, made it very easy, your going to change those speakers sooner or later save yourself the trouble and do it now......

i still dont think it will work in the 06, because pin outs are diff on the 06 and 07.

i need someone who has put it in an 06 the speak up and say yes it works fine without modification

also the hhr radio is the same as the 07 cobalt radio not the 06

where aer you from........west new york?.....im stuck............do not know what to tell you.....i know its frustrating.....the plastic thing that i cut was due to how big the aftermarket harness is........it comes with two boxes that are pretty big.........the radio wasnt aligining with the screw holes so i had to modify it.............
