I just bought a used AVIC-N3 and the only thing missing is the 30 pin cable that connects the headunit to the hideaway unit. My question is: Is there a way to test if the unit is working without having that cable? I would like to test it before ordering the cable because it is like $50.

 

assuming you can find out which pin is which you could possibly test it on a power supply BUT most of the time the HU is dead without the brain anyway so without the cable the chances of u being able to get it to turn on are like 3%
