is it bad to have more volume in the box that whats required for the sub??

No. A lot of people say it screws up the subs, but realistically it just doesn't let the subwoofer work at its optimal performance. (Read: Not as many dBs)

the new subs i want have a recommended volume of about .7 cu. ft. (sealed) and my box has about 1 cu. ft. (sealed) is that gonna be bad??

difference is the smaller the box the more power you can theoretically throw at the subs. Also a bigger sealed box will usually peak lower then a smaller one (not that sealed boxes really peak but you know what i mean)

If it makes you feel any better i have a gigantic sealed box. a bit more then recommended for the subs

those 15s plural... i went with sealed because thats really all the space i had. Ported would have made my batteries 100% blocked.

The single 15 i had was strictly for competition. I couldnt really listen to music off of it (sounded like ass)
