Cobalt and Aveo Radio Questions
I have and 07 Cobalt and and 07 Aveo.
I have an extra radio for the 07 Cobalt.
The Aveo radio has no CD player.
I was wondering if anyone knew if the Aveo radio has the same wire harness plug-ins that the cobalt has, if so this would be a very cheap way for me to upgrade the wife's radio in her car.
Anyone have any idea about this?

That makes no sense. If I have an extra radio that may fit in there, how would going out and buying an aftermarket radio benefit me at all? If it fits we swap it out free if not, she already told me she could care less if it had a CD player since the Aveo has the iPod hook up. So no I would not be better with an aftermarket unit.
Also please stay on topic. I asked about a Cobalt radio swap into an Aveo, not an aftermarket radio

They aren't the same, trust me. I've taken apart aveos and obviously cobalts they are different. As previously stated the aveo is a daewoo, which is why it uses a daewoo wiring harness and not anything gm.

This is the wire harness I found for the Aveo... Looks a lot like the cobalt wire harness
It don't matter anyway tomorrow I'll be checking it out my self.

Looking at Emperor's auction, the plugs on the back of the Aveo radio look damn near identical to the plugs on the back of the radio I pulled out of my 07 when I swapped to an 09 unit. I would just try it and see what happens. But keep in mind that even if the plugs are the same and they fit, the pinouts might be different and it won't work directly. I tried plugging my 07 radio into my friend's Pontiac Torrent, the plugs were the same, but the radio wouldn't work.
LOOKING the same and WORKING the same ISN'T the same when working with electronics. Especially when chopping up the wire harnesses to get the right connectors to fit. Different manufacturers use different colors for different purposes. Without the wiring diagrams and some knowlege of automotive wiring you're asking for a lot of trouble. Then there is the anti theft lock out feature. You might get the whole job done only to find it can't be unlocked to the new application. Don't forget. You have to have the installation completed to try unlocking it. WAY too many variables. Plug and play from Best Buy sounds good to me.

I know about the the anti theft lockout... I have guy that told me he would do both cars for one price. I have a radio from an SS w/mp3 and the stock radio from my LS. The guy at the dealer said he would unlock both for the cost of an hours labor. Also in that price he is going to turn on my cruise control since I added it my self using the How-To
i can tell you for a fact the aveo and 07+ plugs are the same and have the same pin out...
doesnt mean it will work thou. GM lan might **** up, the curve of the faceplate might be slightly off and either look funny or not alow the dash trim to go back on

I'll take that into consideration. Also I don't know much about the LAN system.
exactly. theres a chance u plug that bad boy in and it will freak out the car. now that probably wont happen but im not about to come on here and tell you that it wont
If the dealer is confident it will work then that would ease my mind if i was doing it but doenst mean they know any better either

I'm going to give it a try. It was too cold today, but maybe tomorrow I can get out side and try it out.
If the swap goes easy and all the radio says is LOCKED when the car starts up I'll assume it works. Then I'll just take both my cars to the dealer and see what happens.
