mechanical will use a capillary tube to go directly to the gauge, electric will use a sending unit and use wire to transmit readings

Mechanical you have to run a live oil line into your cabin, I don't suggest it.

Mechanical will be more accurate though. I had all AEM Digital gauges and I switched over to all mechanical because it's more accurate. Also depends on which motor your gauges use. If they use the stepper motor, they will be more accurate as well.

awesome information! could save some money and go mechanical since it registers the same and quicker. but i dunno about runnin an oil line into cabin. i already removed the grommet under the pedals for my aeroforce wideband so could run it through there. hmmm. mayb i will try and save some money and run mechanical. thanks rector!

If you're running a mechanical boost gauge with the stepper motor, it will be faster. And also, you just need to tee into the vacuum line and send that new line into the back of your mechanical gauge. Save money and go mechanical.

If you need any pointers or help on wiring, PM me.

Idk where oil came from? But my mechanical gauge has a clear tube that goes from the back straight to a T fitting.
