Component speakers for Pioneer setup

I was looking at picking up some Alpine sps-610c component speakers to replace the stock pioneers up front. However I found someone just selling the 6.5" speakers with no tweeters for $20.00, would these be a decent upgrade with the stock tweeters or should I just buy the whole kit?

20 bucks really isnt that bad however woofer only with the stock tweeter has the potential of sounding like ass. plus the 4 ohm thing will make it only half power so i would say no go

Thanks for the advice, any suggestions on a quality component setup for under $200?

Either of these a decent choice, they are both 2Ω.

Infinity Reference 6030cs
JBL GTO608C

Thanks, the 2Ω options seem pretty limited.

Get an Eminince Eminator 6.5 and a dayton tweeter, then make your own xover with the plastic bag and zip tie waterproofing trick. You can get both components at partsexpress. I have seriously been thinking about getting a few of the Eminators myself and doing custom doors but havent had time.

true however thats an 8 ohm driver. he would need to get an amp or HU with an amp bypass for sure to run them.

infinity and JBL are made by the same company and while those aren't exactly the same u can find speakers that are in the perspective line ups (think cobalt/g5)

if they arent exactly the same like these ones arent the infinity will usually sound slightly cleaner where the JBL will be slightly louder. between those 2 i would say go with the infinity however specs are very similar so prob not a huge diff between the two

What about a 6.5" sub like this in the door? Would it sond decent or sound like crap, I am looking to have a bit more bass/mids because the 8" sub I added isn't as much as I would like and the stock ons in the door seem to be rattling.

What size are the stock tweeters in the 2006 Pioneer sound package?

I am going to do a sound system install whenever the AppRadio 3 comes out. The plan is to replace all 4 speakers (and tweeters) but keep them on the stock amplifier, while replacing the subwoofer with its own amplifier.

ya that would get you more bass persay however theres a few issues with that

1. door speakers might be crossed over from the amp. if so this would make a small increase in bass.

2. you would loose a **** ton of vocal. everything from 250 to 3khz would be gone. (well it might play that but the freq response only rates it to 250) Ive tried using a small sub as a midbass and it didnt work well, using it as a midrange is even worse.

If bass is your main concern what i would do is... go over the top with sound dampening in the door and buy a set of stock speakers to replace the ones you have now

Thanks, would it make much difference if I am using the stock Pioneer amp to push them. Hate to get them and the stock amp won't run them to full potential, but if it will I will go with those.

well yes you will never get full potential with the stock amp. Personally id go with the 660 anyway even on the stock amp but really thats up to you. whats the price difference you're looking at?

I can get the 608C's for $75~80 and the P660c's for $150.

I appreciate the advice, I am not up on the stock amp power output so just trying to maximize what I have.

ah so basically double for the 660. without hearing them both it would be hard to say if the 660 is worth double the cost
