Custom Flooring for Trunk.

Well hey folks. The stock flooring to support stuff in my trunk was simply not gonna cut it.

So.....

I went to Home Depot with some basic measurements, grabbed some half inch mdf, and had them cut it down to my specifications. It uses three main boards, the final board not pictured(closest to rear of car) will be custom cut tomorrow and some of it will be hinged on the middle board for easy battery access/spare removal. spare removal is handled through the removal of the board closest to passengers, and sliding middle(and rearmost once hinged) into the removed boards spot. From there, open the hinged door and pull out your spare.

Anyway here is a pic from basic stuff tonight. Keep it mind i WILL be carpeting these.

you could of made a false floor also, either using alum. or mdf bracing.

I put some 1/2" MDF when my subwoofer box ate thru the fiberboard and bent my spare tire bolt

High speed cornering + heavy unbolted box = broken trunk

haha yea yelloeye, my box was screwed into the stock trunk flooring....what that ended up translating to was my sub sliding with the attached flooring. I didn't feel safe having that situation for the car pc project.

mae, for temporary purposes i decided to just keep my ugly ass white tower. I'll buy a new case in the next phase, which will be replacing the unit with a dual core atom setup. (this would be the setup i'd look into selling as a first model)

my carpet is on order, but won't be here on schedule for the install tonight. So what I'll be doing for temporary purposes is to lay the stock carpet(just the carpet) down and make it look the best I can so once the carpeting arrives I'll be able to take each main board out individually and maker em look even more pro.

More images tonight. Hell probably video of some functionality tonight.

Current Plan:

Cut the last main board, install proper hinging for battery access/spare removal

Overlay the stock carpeting staple it(since it's temporary) into the wood

Install my empty sub-box(Type-R here on Monday)

Install the CarPC equipment

HAVE FUN

Install proper carpeting

Install Type R
Continue researching replacement PC unit

Thats actually my permanent solution for carpeting and hinge, I decided against putting in hinges in favor of having a flat floor (and my box would sit funny if I put hinges on it) It works great.
