Dash control information

Anyone know what can cause the information (mileage, temp, ect) to bright up and dull again real quick. Its like a flicker but it doesn't go out, it gets brighter for a second then goes back. It mainly happens when im not moving. Driving to work today, and seen it happen 2-3 times, but when I was at stop lights, it kept doing it non-stop.

lights are fine. The only thing that seems to be wrong is the information center.

is it when you first start the car in daylight? what happens when you start the car is the lights are dim, then it will brighten to normal then if its not dark enough it will dim again, but only once

I have the alpine 9884. Tested it again last night. Nothing else fades, not the headlights, not my dome light, the the illumination on the stereo, just the DIC.

I have noticed in the past that the electric power steering causes a huge drain in the car's electrical circuit.

well from warrens post it sounds like an issue with the car itself. since its intermittent it sounds like a bcm issue so you can try getting it "fixed" at the dealership but they probably will blame aftermarket and probably be no help

Might have to take it in anyway. As it gets worse, it now whines (like a bad ground)...but only when headlights are turned on. Still can't figure out, since headlights still function fine.

Actually, just found it its not just the odemeter. Also parts of the intrument Panel. The highbeam light will do it also, but not the red seat belt one. the CEL wont do it, but the bettery light will.
