I have the Pioneer AVIC-Z2 and I love it:



So far the only opiton I have is the bluetooth option which allows me to talk on the cell phone through the HU.
The intire package costs me about $1200 that includes the GM-LAN04 harness.

 

Alright everybody i bought a kenwood monitor last night for 450$. its the ddx512. Has cd/dvd/navigation/backup camera/bluetooth/ipod ready. i ordered the indash kit and axxess module GM-LAN04 also. is this everything i am going to need to install this unit?

 

That also gets you points at shows, for keeping the controls with aftermarket unit!

i got the pac swi-ps but i believe you will need the pac swi-jack for your steering wheel controls

how hard was the install? what the name of that unit to i really think i might do this instead of the new phone i want

 

DDX512 doesn't come with navi.. You have to add that.. Nor does it come with a back-up camera.. Just letting you know. I have the same H/U.

 

well with the axxess harness it should make all that work right? i dont need the backup camera just the nav.

 

I was looking to get the Avic F700BT...do I really need to pay for the 120 harness? Thats just ridiculous. I dont have onstar (its in my car but not active paying). I want to use the nav, maybe the blue tooth and stereo. I dont use steering wheel controls..but I guess door chimes would be good?

 

I believe that there is another harness besides the GM-LAN04 that allows you to keep the door chimes. If you can do without the door chimes there is a harness thats real cheap I think it was $10.

 

you need the harness other wise your factory amp wont work and neither will your blinker/door chimes. also need it for navigation

What a ripoff

 

dont think you need it for nav. nav should be built into the unit. dont know where that came from but i am pretty sure you need it if you have the pioneer sound system with a factory amp. plus, even though you dont have onstar its still nice to have. i mean even if your not paying for it, wouldnt u like to know that if you were in an accident you could still reach up and push the emergency button and have them just bill you for a one time use or something. its better than it not working at all.

 

still dont get why its so expensive over the regular harness though.

 

yea i agree its kinda retarded but its nice and itll be worth it. i mean i justify by saying im gonna have this for a real long time so i might as well just buy it and do it right. the gmos does have a circuit board built into it too so that might have a lil to do with it. $100 circuit board??? i doubt it.

 

the gm lan has a vss wire but otherwise has nothing to do with navigation
