Double din DVD player....

First off, I apologize if this question has already been asked here. However I am new to this forum.

Anyway, I recently purchased a 2006 Cobalt LT with the 7 speaker pioneer system. Although it is a decent system, I am looking to install a double din DVD player with 6.5 or 7 inch screen. Something like the one in this link. http://www.kenwood.ca/products/ListP...k3=149&pr=2349

My question is, because the Cobalt’s head unit’s area is so big, is there any bracket or harness that will allow me to fit an aftermarket unit like this in?

My main concern is to have it look very clean and professional. I do not want allot of excess plastic around the screen.

Thanks.

Yeah that looks really nice. The screen fits in really nice and it looks professional. However, I wouldn’t get the radio controls installed below were the temp gages are. I would just want to get a double in touch screen fitted in like he has. Do you know if the bracket is custom made or is there one on the market for the Cobalt?

if memory serves me correct, he relocated it in the globebox. Pretty cool place if you ask me actually.

Was there a "dash kit" for the radio controls to go in place of the AC/Heat controls, or was it a custom setup.

yes you will loose all of that...well there are IR devices that can keep your controls..sometimes they work and sometimes they do. currently they make a din kit that keeps on the onstar, not at double din kit...yes XM goes as well

Thanks for all the info. This is going to be my little project for the summer. I am going to try and find a really good installer that can put in a double din DVD player/screen. I am probably going to put in an amp as well to power the sub, and might even change the sub. I'll post some pics when I get it done. And I am looking forward to seeing any other pics of custom work.

You dont need a good installer to do this, its incredibly easy just buy the double din kit and find the post about how to remove the dash trim.

Now that is exactly what I want to get done. That looks really cool. By the way, what kind of player is that?
