Double Din Radio Questions

I have a few questions. So I ordered this double din radio on sunday.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-AVH-X2500BT-DVD-IPOD-USB-BLUETOOTH-PANDORA-AUX-DOUBLE-DIN-CAR-RECEIVER-/151010741260?pt=US_Video_In_Dash_Units_w_o_GPS&hash=item2328f10c0c
The pioneer website said it will fit a cobalt with a "modified fit" because the top is kind of slanted.
I was wondering if anyone has installed this radio on their car and if you could tell me what you did to make it fit. And yes I searched and couldn't find a thread on this specific radio.

Second question. I know I need a dash kit and this is the one i ordered because it said it was for a cobalt with an aftermarket radio.

2004 2012 Chevy Pontiac Double DIN Dash Kit Radio Install Harness Antenna | eBay

I then saw a few cobalts with this kit instead.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scosche-GM1599B-Double-DIN-Installation-Dash-Kit-for-Select-Chevy-Malibu-Equinox-/290901387685?pt=US_Car_Audio_Video_Dashboard_Installation_Kits&hash=item43bb12e9a5
The 2 are very similar. The only difference is the trim part comes off. Will the one I ordered still work?

Thanks for the help.

So i'm guessing this is going into a 06 by your name? That dash kit looks like it will work. The 1 peice trim ones are better though. The antenna adapter and wire harness in the picture on the other hand are wrong. Could be just a generic picture though mabie? Probably have to wait until it arrives.

Oh the description on the listing you bought says 07-10 Cobalt. Thats why they are wrong. Not sure if the dash kit will fit either then. Assuming your installing in a 06.... So lets start with the question, What year is your car? lol

Yes the radio size is the same for 04+. The antenna adapter is this one.... But like I said the picture could be a generic crappy picture or something. If it had a model number to look it up would tell you alot more. Looks like theres a prog in middle of the one in picture which shouldnt be there tho.

Ya I used the scosche one for mine too. But the one is the picture of the listing you said you ordered looks different. I wouldn't worry too much until you actually get the stuff and look at it.

What else do I need for the radio? Someone told me I'll need a harness module thing to keep stock settings.
It's called a Scosche GM13R

you can use that one but the non module harness is easier/better IMO for 05-06 cobalts

the dash kit you bought will work its just a cheaper kit

they are exactly the same the 2nd link is to a "new" open box item (used) so the price difference is due to that.

the 2 advantages of a module harness are you dont have to run the acc to the fuse box and it gives the proper RCA signal to the factory amp.

disadvantages are they break alot. sometimes don't work out of the box. it recreates the factory chimes, which in our cars don't come from the radio so you would have 2 chimes if you can't turn them down off whatever. then its just price really

when you open the door with the key in it you get a sound notification to remind you not to lock your keys in the door. or when your blinker is on ect ect. in 05-06 these noises come from the speedometer or something in that area. 07+ they come from the radio. The module harness recreates these noises as well (the main reason for them) so if there is no way to silence the noises from the module harness any time there is a chime you will have one from the car factory and one from the module harness as well (probably different sounds too)
