EmpJJ Center channel build

Cut the hole for the speaker. i wanted it as small as possible so it barely cleared the magnet.... i ended up having to make a slot for the wires thou

I didn't get any pictures of the speaker ring but it had a roundover instead of being flat and had a kurff cut so it would bend with the dash. Nothing major just a slight bend BUT it made a huge difference in the end result. These pics are in mid sanding thou, the ring was fiberglassed to the dash popped off and i snapped some pics after the first stage of sanding

After looking at it on the dash half way ready i realized the orange wasn't going to work... So i painted the speaker while the final sanding and stuff was being done

Soldered and heat shrunk the wires to the ES-03

All done

Heres some pics of the sound dampening on the dash as well

Looks good.
Its funny I just bought the ES-4`s for rear fill along with some HD-42`s up front in the BMW.
Car goes in Tuesday morning for it all to be installed (above mentioned, plus audio control 3.1, DD, 6.5`s DD S4, DDM1b, and 1 2510)
Nothing fancy, nothing earth shattering, I just want a little thump while still keeping the car as functional as possible.

Well done, looks like you beat me to the center channel. The poor balt has been a little neglected since I got the new one, she needs some TLC, just waiting for the weather to get a little better (aftermarket intake = pain in the ass during the Vancouver rainy season)

I actually changed my mind and went with a dual 2ohm 3510.
I haven't seen it yet, I get the car back tomorrow.
I have been forcing myself to stay away while there working on it, I don't really want to see this car all riped apart, I might loose respect for it

I'll post some pics this weekend.

mmm the speaker isn't 100% on the dash the panel puts it like 1/2" above it. and there's a 2" piece of foam under the speaker+ a little bit of clearance so i would guesstimate 3-4in from the plastic of the dash to the metal in that spot. mind you the ac vents are running under there so a few places are cramped. i didn't get a pic of that unfortunately

Where would I pick up a digital voltage readout like the one you have in your dash?
I finally have the funds to get rid of my capacitor and buy a Kinetik battery, but I'm going to miss the volt meter on the capacitor and I would like to be able to monitor my voltage from the drivers seat.

What kind of paint did you use to paint your speakers? Do you need a special type of speaker to use as a center channel?

krylon flat black. same as the midranges in the doors. lol i actually dont have a pic of them with the flat black. just the first ones where it was krylon satin black

af far as speaker not that i know of. the tweet is out of a old 2001 fosgate comp set and the lil 3" mid comes in a set as well (i just ordered one for this application)

just did some measuring and you got about 3 1/4 in from the dash to whatever (metal plastic idk i forgot) its curved so probably not exact that everywhere but the few spots i checked were all about that
