Quick question: I got 2 alpine subs, my amp and capacitor. I wanna set it up this weekend. Will it work with the factory deck? I mean does it have a sub out? It should, because it has a factory installed sub, correct? Just don't wanna go to the guys and have them laugh at me lol Thanks all!!

There is no sub out, the factory sub works off the rear speaker output.

To run what? The speakers it is already powering? You can keep your stock head unit if you want to get a converter of somesort to feed the sound to the after market amp from the speaker wire to the factory amp. The thing might be called a high output or line out converter but dont quote me on that.

 

u just need a line output convertor you can use it at the rear speakers or behind the radio whatever is easier for you

 

ok... lets say i buy the line out convertor, will the sound be good and clear and loud? and then lets say afterwards, i buy an aftermarket deck, i can still place it in correct? i just take out the line out convertor... ??? thanks all

 

if you use the converter you have the same sound because it is only doing what most aftermarket companies do inside the decks. it changes the speaker wire into rca cable that your amp can recognize. if you end up getting a new headunit than just make sure you bought long enough rca cables and just unhook your converter from the speaker wires and reconnect the rca cables to new deck. hope i helped

well found it at Future Shop for $89.99 CAD. But it says its a 4-channel one. Is that good enough?

 

Im pretty sure that will work fine just connect it to the rear speaker lines.

 

You need a "line out-put converter" and you're gonna have to hook it up behind the deck. If you want you can just put it in the trunk but then when you get a real deck you're gona have to run it anyways. plus your sound Q won't be that great since your stock deck dosent put out a lot of voltage. Also you need to hook up the LOC before the amp, although your amp clears all the frequencies it dosent need your aftermarket amp should have the same function. Truley you would be better off with an aftermarket deck but if you don't wana now then an LOC is the way to go.

They should be a lot cheaper you only need an LOC with 2 RCA outputs. 05stockcobalt is right, thats way to expensive. I worked at mobile one and we sold them for around $19.

 

im having the same dilemma, i already have all the components listed, i have power to the amp and everything... i just need to know if cutting the stock rear speaker wires will void a warranty. And where is the Remote Wire from the sub amp supposed to go? since there is no AUX pwr wire like there is on traditional radio setups... if i just put it on the Full time Power wire will it kill my battery? The amp will stay on, but it wont be doing anything if the radio isn't on...

 

dont cut your rear speaker wire just use a "T-tap" and tap onto the rear speaker wires behind the deck. what channel amp are you putting in? Also as far as the remote again tap onto a ignition wire (a wire that only turns constant when the key is forward and at rest when the key is off). If you have any questions just ask.

Umm...I took my car to circuity city....I have 2 eclipse 12s hooked up to stock. All they had to do was the line converter. Its sooooo easy to hook up an aftermarker sound system because your freakin battery is in the trunk lol. I love that!!!! As far as sound goes...umm...here is the thing you really don't have a lot of control over the bass...I would have went aftermarket receiver but I couldn't find a at the time...sooner or later I am going to switch out because when you turn the volume up the bass is just way to loud...its really hard to balance out bass and overall sound quality when you run a line converter. I mean you want loud highs, mids, and bass....with the line converter you have to play around with it to get it sounding right. It will hit...but you will have more bass than anything else.

 

forgot to say I have a 750watt mono channel amp as well :-)

 

you can turn the ouputs down on the LOC, at least you can on most. or you can just turn the bass level down on the stock h/u control.

also, most line out converters these days don't compromise sound quality like everyone thinks. that's just a myth.


as far as the easiest way to run the acc wire. just run it to an empty space in the passenger side in cabin fuse block with a fuse. and, there ya go.

true but work with a small 15amp then work to a 30amp, so you dont chance burning up wires.
