Factory Sub Question??

I know the factory sub is a dual voice coil. Now im wondering if it is a dual 4 or 2 ohm. The reason im asking is that I have a Dual 2 ohm sub and Im wanting too hook it up. Any advice????

Aight that sounds good. How did you get it out? I tried just the other day by pulling off the grille and when I tried getting the sub itself out it just kept on popping right back in the enclosure. I stopped messing with it because I didnt want to break nothing. LOL

There are 4 or 5 10 mm nuts that hold the enclosure in place.Once you remove them, the box will come out.Once you get the box out, theres a screw in the back of it that goes through the speaker magnet to hold it in place.Once you remove that screw in the back and the screws that hold on the grill, the speaker will come right out.

It dont weigh that much.If your not into bassy music, than take it out.I like music with alot of bass,so i wouldnt remove it.I replaced the sub with a jl sub,and it pounds. Its perfect for me,and i still have all my trunk space.

I opened a vent hole in my sub box and WOW did it make a world of difference! The factory sub can breath now and it hits much better.

You opened a vent hole? I agree I would like to see pics of this vent hole. If it really makes that much more of a difference.

Whick JL did you replace it with? Did you have to make any adjustments to the enclosure?

I replaced it with a 10w1v2.Its not a direct fit.I had to put an mdf ring on the box because the sub was like an inch too deep.Stuffed it with some poly fill, and that was it.

anyone know the airspace on the box, or the RMS of the factory amp? air space matters when choosing an aftermarket speaker, and make sure to keep the vent on the sub clear or you will burn it up.
