fog lights on with high beams

hello gentlemen, newbie here.
I just bought a set of HID's for my car, a 2008 SS, and came to find out the the HID bulbs are high beam only and the low beams are still halogen. I really don't want to buy a diferent kit, but I also want to be able to keep my fog lamps on while I have my HID's on. I've done something like this before by splicing the two relays together, but with this being such a newer car, all the relay control circuits are grounded in the BCM. Just wondering if anybody has done this, or could help me figure it out

...you sure you installed the hids right?... normally the hid are the lows and halogens are the highs

That.

And why wouldn't you be able to have your fogs on at the same time?
They're separately controlled.

The high beams should shut off the fogs because if you actually need the fog lights you would be stupid trying to use the highs also.

I can tell you right now, the wiring that goes to that hid bulb is backwards. The low beam is supposed to be the hid, the high is the halogen. Also, you do not want your fogs to be on when the high beams are on, because it will really hurt your distance vision with so much light up close to you.

moot point anyways, the low turned out to be the HID's. orded from a different site than what i bought my last kit from where the HID was in fact the high beam, but got the same kit... sketchy. but anyways, did look at the schematics and it's impossible to do it without adding another toggle swtich.

and the reason the fogs go off when high beams come on is because it's illegal to have both on at the same time for whoever asked that. why would i want to do it? because it looks cool in pictures

apparently your not very good with wiring are you? let me break it down... both bulbs are together correct? on the wire harness going to the bulb there's 3 wires a ground and 2 power. one for the high one for the low. so depending on this wiring either bulb could be high or low or disconnected.

all you had to do even with the first kit is switch this wiring around and tada your low would be HID and high would be halogen.

i'm just fine with wiring. i didn't have them backwards; it's pretty hard to screw up a plug-n-play harness. my only mistake was assuming i had received the same kit as the previous one and not actually hooking them up before i posted

i never said it was your mistake or you had them backwards, i just offered the solution to the problem. plug and play kits tend to be cheap and cheap tends to sometimes be wired backwards from the factory
