Foglights on with hi-beams
Foglights on with hi-beams
Does anyone know if it is possible to have the foglights running, while also using your hi-beams? I was able to do this on my Ranger by removing a pin from a specific relay, but I'm unsure about the Cobalt.
I am during christmas brake when i dont have to work im to tired to do it after school and work till 6:30. I always thought they were just terrible until i looked at my car with the brights on and realized i could look straight into them without squinting and when i put my head by the ground they were blinding lol.
There's a place up here called Canadian Tire where you can buy just the wire harness for fog lights. Switch, relay, fuses and al the wires.
I'm sure one of those places in the states have to sell something similar.
That being said, I'm pretty sure thats its illegal to have the high's and the foglights on at the same time, thats why they are the way they are.

The reason that you can't have the fog lights on the same time as the hibeams is because they are design to specifically not work that way. It is illegal to drive with hibeams and foglights on in some states.
Why would you ever need to have high beams and fogs on?
They're called fog lights for a reason: Fog lights are used when high beams impair your driving due to the fog in the air. The fog lights are lower on the vehicle to alleviate the reflections off the fog caused by high beams. The low beams assist with the close up parts of the highway.
Ok,
First, the fog lights are there like someone said because they cut UNDER the fog, allowing you to see that wonderful white line on the side of the road, keeping you on the road.
Second, the high beams are for when its clear, and very dark, just allows you to see further along the road.
Third, They switch back automatically, it's not like you have to turn the fogs back on every time you switch from high beams to low.
Fourth, I have a feeling you are doing this simply from an aesthetics stand point, meaning "it looks cool" pointless as well because no-one should see it. Hopefully when you drive in traffic you won't have your high-beams on, and instead you will have both fogs and low beams, which looks fine.
I personally drive all the time with the fog lights on, because of the auto-on feature, during the day it adds a redundant safety feature, but you really don't need them on when you have your high beams on.
