Gm-lan-03

I got a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC with pioneer sound system, want to put in active market radio but DO NOT have ON-Star. I would like to keep my factory chimes etc etc, Is this REQUIRED and the best way without hardwiring, or splicing into **** i dont need to be... money isnt a problem I just want the correct answer. thanks!

and was told buy an audio shop its 03, what is 04? so im assuming that it is in fact true whether or not I have ONSTAR or not * which i dont * i still need it.

the 03 i dont think works with the factory amp, thats why you want 04

taken from that page:

Note: Not compatible with factory amplified sound systems.

and u said you have the pioneer system, so yah

umm...correct me if im wrong but the headunit has nothing to do with the door chimes unless the 07 is different than the 06...on mine everything works even with no headunit except the stereo of course

mine does not work without a headunit (07), the turn signals and everything works, there are just no chimes. The gmos-lan-04 "simulates" the chime noises (definitatley a sound difference between the two)

yeah, the door chimes on the 07 come through the speakers, so I would be guessing its a stereo thing.
