Help Building a Sub Box

So after not being able to find a box for my install (live in a small ish town and the 2 main places that had car stereo stuff closed), I've decided to make one, and while I'm at it, do something unique. I'm going to set the part where the sub sits back 1.5 to 2 inches and use lexan in the front with a couple blue LEDs in between to light it up. Now I have 2 questions because this is only the second box I've built and my first time using lexan. Do I need to do anything with the lexan to "vent" it so it's not sealed? and also, I want to paint the part where the sub sits white to go with the theme of my car. I'm assuming there's no problems if I just prime it and paint it?

1/4 would be fine . i would port the box with PVC pipe and paint the inside on it black. use what ever is left over from you lexan to make a surround for the port so you dont see seems. i have done a couple boxes like this. from the sound of it ur doing a mix between a carpeted box and fiber glass. im i right ???

I shouldve explained better. The lexan is going to be sitting in front of the sub. So the top and sides are going to extend about an inch and a half past the "box" so that I can light up the front

The box is built. Just waiting on the lexan and LEDs and then I'll put the final piece of trim on the front
