Help me choose a double-din!

So I've never really was into a stereo system. Since the car is paid off since November I would really like to get a double din with two primary features, built in bluetooth for music streaming and a detachable faceplate.

The budget is $600 max and since I am and 06 LS w/o onstar, XM or pioneer system, I know I need to buy Metra 70-2103 harness and Metra 40-GM10 adapter.

I have looked at the JVC KW-AV60BT as well as the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT (which is above budget)

Input is welcomed!

i got one for sale. its a pioneer avic-u310bt. $350shipped OBO and you can have it all.. you would just need your other harness otherwise it includes everything (such as antenna adapter, mic, gps antenna, usb extended cable, double din adapter obviously). you can connect your phone to it via bluetooth but i dont believe you can stream music through it that way. I just removed it friday and would rather have the money than install it in my SS.. I have a phone to use as my GPS now so thats why I really dont feel the need to have it.

the touchscreen faceplate is detachable! its a very cool feature not many touchscreens have

padlock - I might consider yours if I don't find anything I like. Big drawback is the BT not streaming music and to be honest screen size.

07blackg5 - that looks like a really nice HU, especially for $376

just to throw my opinion on it in here.

the screen size while small was actually very nice. Having only a touchscreen kinda sucks in my opinion. I mean yea you get a clean look but controlling everything while trying to drive is a pain from my personal experiences. the dial is really nice to be able to scroll through stuff cuz you can do so without even needing to look to make sure your touching the right area of the screen if you know what I'm getting at.

just throwing my .02 in on the topic.. i know everyone has their own preferences and I respect that

Yep, I agree totally. I loved using my pioneer's knob to scroll through songs on my ipod, as you could go over bumps and etc. not worrying about hitting the wrong button and accidentally start playing that one gay song we all know we have thats stuck on our ipod and we can't get rid of it...

I just bought a cheap USB flash drive to put my music on and used that all the time.. it was alot easier than linking a phone by turning on BT everytime you wanted to listen to music from it (not to mention saved your battery life on your phone)

I am also an Apple Hater.. never will i own that junk

damn. Well I was waiting for you to chime in Emperor since this is your territory. I could probably save a few dollars by going bluetooth less model.

But detachable is what I am really after simply due to Tucson being terrible with crime.

just something to think about really maybe bluetooth less will broaden your search results. ultimately if it has bluetooth or there's a small price difference more for built in bluetooth might as well get it... bluetooth wasnt the main reason i got the one i have but it was a big playing factor so.... i mean its nice to have sorta but at the end of the day i wouldn't rule out a radio if it didn't have bluetooth

ok the yellow u hook up to the yellow. the black u hook up to the black the white u hook up to the white. continue thru the colors other then red. then u hook up the red wire on the pioneer harness to the red wire with the connector on it. run that to the fuse box and find an acc fuse with a multi meter. tap the fuse then plug it all up and test it

I should mention I have an 06 LS w/o Pioneer system or OnStar. I also do not have an amp. Not sure if that would make a difference when talking about that Orange wire.

Would you mind replying later, since its hella early for me to be up on a Saturday morning. I will post a closer picture of both harnesses and list the colors that are on each. That way I can have a list kind of like this;

Black (Metra) to Black (JVC)
etc
etc

Sorry for being a total noob, first stereo install ever since I will have alot of free time this weekend.

hey man, i just hooked up my JVC kw-av50 and it works like a charm. let me know if ya need any help with the wiring. its really more intimidating than it actually is. just connect all the wires from the metra harness to the corresponding wire that is with the JVC harness.
