Lightbulb help on speakers!!!

"sorry lil long"
k so i have a 2007 2.2l cobalt, i blown one of my speakers. so im thinking about just changing everything to alpine, kenwood, ect. one of my family members work at best buy so i can get a killer deal, my prob is i want all four speakers to be alpine or what ever the beest sound. the only thing i dont get is the CROSSOVER. i rely dont understand this, do i need it for my speakers and tweeters. i already have a sub, but i just dont get this crossover thing. also for the tweeters do i just add the speaker wire from the front speakers to the tweeters or is there a special way to do this.

well you don`t need a crossover and you can splice the tweet wires off of your front speakers but it just depends on what kind of sound quality you are going for if you went with a component system then yeah i would do the crossover but they uaually come with the speakers anyway also depending on your head unit some come with built in crossovers for mids highs and sub i have a kenwood head unit that i paid 170 for and it had one built in and it sounds just fine i can turn it damn near all the way up with no distortion but like i said it just depends on what you are going for hope this helps.

yeah go to crutchfield.com thats where i got mine but you have to buy a special wiring harness because of the factory door chimes but they offer it at a discounted price even though its still exspensive but they send everything else for free like the mounting kit so thats cool.

Depends on what your looking to do. A component set comes with the crossover where as the coax has a cap for the tweeter on the speaker itself. So if your going to get a comp set then just use the midrange wires as input to the crossover and run new wires for the mid/tweet
