1 ballast per headlight.
Please get some projector headlights. You don't need to be blinding anybody.

1 Ballast per light. You can get a bi-beam bulb if you want, but your low beams will be bright enough that you won't need the bi-beam bulb, so just get a 1 way bulb. Projectors are ghey, don't get them. Stockers look the best either chrome or blacked out.

I agree. If you want to convert to HIDs, the best way to do it is with a retrofit. HIDs in HID projectors perform a LOT better than HIDs in halogen reflectors and don't blind oncoming traffic.

I never said you can't. It's just my 2 cents. I don't like projectors. The look kind of look cheap in my opinion. I've only seen 1 set of projectors I liked and they were on TommyPs car.

By the way, you really won't blind people if you adjust them right.

Typical speech of a PnP kit user. I've done the PnP kit thing before. I had the bi-xenon kit as well. I tried aiming my lights down so I don't get flashed, but I couldn't see **** ahead. I had way too much light up close. So when I adjusted them to where I was happy, I got flashed at again. So, I said "f-it" and did a retrofit. Some projectors are better than others. The Mini H1s perform well and are relatively easy to install. OEM replicas, like the FX-Rs, perform even better and take a little more work. My Mini H1s perform a hell of a lot better than the stock halogens. For my thirst for more light, I plan on upgrading to FX-Rs soon.

Well said. Aiming them to the ground defeats the purpose.

Do it right the first time and get projectors. Whether you retrofit or get any generation.

Retrofit means taking out the reflector housing out of the stock heads and replacing it with a projector.
You can black them out, if you want.

If you want the look and a decent output on stockers, go with nokya high wattage bulbs... I have the arctic whites stage 2 with the high wattage harness ... They look great they are bright
But not bright enough to blind people or have people flash you. If you go this route you HAVE to get the harnesses or else you will eventually melt your factory harness.

I've never been flashed with HIds in the stock housing. It's not hard to aim them down. I've driven past the car coming at me and it's not blinding at all.

Again..

Just because you aren't getting flashed doesn't mean you aren't blinding people.
Aiming them down defeats the purpose. You'll technically have too much foreground light.
The lights will also look way different inside the car than out.

Speaking for experience. I was able to see a LOT farther down the road with my stock halogens than with my PnP bi-xenon kit. PnP HIDs in the stock halogen reflectors just put out way too much foreground light. The Mini H1 projectors give about the same high beam performance as your stock halogens while giving you even better low beam performance. The new Mini H1s now have a foreground limiter, so they should be even better yet. I'm upgrading from the Mini H1 to the FX-Rs next year sometime.

No, the high wattage bulbs do not require ballasts. However like I said you need the beefed up harness, its basically a larger gauge wire made to withstand the added heat the bulbs will generate.

Our cars electrical system can handle the added strain no problem.

If you'd like me to take a picture of my lights at night i'd be glad to, just let me know..

Projectors will always be your best bet for HID'S I believe, but this option is great for people wanting to keep the car looking stock ish but get a similar light output as HID'S
