I purchased a retrofit/ bi-xenon hid wiring kit a little over a year ago from a holiday sale on this site. The kit worked fine up until last week when the weather started to warm up. The issue began with my passenger headlight being slow to turn on. I didn't think much of it and did not inspect the problem until it got worse.

Both headlights went out yesterday, I checked the inline wiring harness fuse and discovered it was blown. Replaced it, both headlights came on for about 10 seconds and the fuse blew again. Rinse and repeat. I disconnected the left headlight to see if that was the main issue, the inline fuse blew again. I did notice lite charing on the wires coming out of the projector housing (I'm guessing that is the high beam cut off, not the bulb wires), and a strong carbon burning smell from the left side.

Any ideas or ways to identify where the problem comes from?

 

Blowing fuses usually means a short to ground so i would check all your hot wires and make sure none of them are frayed and making contact with metal

 

probably the chiwanese harness that a former vendor used to sell. absolute junk.

Those chiwanese harnesses love to blow out. Check the power wire going to the harness and the cross over wiring. Something is making contact. If everything else is fine. Pull out the lights. Check the high beam shutter wiring. If that's fine. Check the ballasts. Disconnect 1 at a time. Check all functions. Do the same for the bulbs. Yes bulbs do that too. I have a pair of h1 8k bulbs that blow out ur bulbs. Saving em for a a-hole. But just check wiring. Best thing u can do.
