HIDs causing radio static/interference

I put BuyHIDs.com (hi mike!) 6000k HIDs in my wife's Audi A6, which doesn't have a visible rear mounted RC antenna like we have, and her radio is awful with the lights on. Sick driving at night/low light but horrible for listening to the radio. Anybody have quick fixes I can try tomorrow? I stumbled across this thread on a Jeep/off-roading forum: Those of you with HID Radio Interference - FIX INSIDE - NAXJA Forums -::- North American XJ Association and the OP said to use one of these on the power lead of each ballast: 0443164151 Fair-Rite EMI/RFI Suppressors & Ferrites

Has anybody had any experience with those? They're cheap enough that if they don't work I won't lose sleep over it.

Not sure on the exact brand, but from BuyHIDs, since he's only 5 miles from my house. I'll have to double check to see if we put the relay in her car. I know we put it in mine. Stock head unit, stock speakers.

I think instead of buying RF suppressors, don't buy cheap ballasts with inferior electronics...

^This :P Its not my car, its my wife's A6. It has an integrated antenna somewhere in the front of the car, like under the windshield or something. Either way, much closer to the front than our cars. And the interference doesn't change in pitch with the rpms. Lights on, radio is static, lights off, clear as day.

Also, she listens to 95.3 in Portsmouth, a 30k watt station, so the static is very overpowering for that station. If she'd listen to WHEB already, it comes in a little better lol

right ur getting a ground loop. might be fixable but dont get ur hopes up. if u have a relay harness then moving ur ground/adding another or bigger ground would be the first step. next would be locating the antenna and trying to beef up that ground last hail mary would be adding an additional ground to the stock radio. again u want to add a ground not replace it so best case it helps worst case it does nothing

if trs is his distributor then how why would he try to defend his product with the statement "It happens with my 3Five kit from TRS..guess that kit is cheap too"?

thats like chevy saying well ya your cobalt sucks but the G5 does the same thing so its ok.

Hes making the statement that its not a cheap part. Hes just being sarcastic about the whole thing because someone stated that the parts are not quality parts. I don't believe this was directed towards you.

We are a direct dealer for all TRS parts...You may not know but our retrofits consists of there Morimoto Mini Stage 3 kit. That includes bulbs and ballasts...why wouldnt i use them if there included and we are the best otherwise i wouldn't be able to afford the outrageous vender prices this website has

idk why u keep saying im on the anti buy hid train or i have some vendetta against you (i dont remember what u said last time)

nope i didnt know what u use on ur retrofits nor do i care because IMO i hate the look of what css members call retrofits. but the only reason i posted was because ur statement made no sense as far as what this thread is concerned. did the op buy a buy hids kit or a trs kit? was ur post in 7 not enough to squash the concerns of slander (assuming its not true)?

Anywayyssssss.... Emperor, her car is so overly engineered that it takes professionals 30 minutes to remove a headlight with proper tools. I haven't the foggiest idea where her antenna is either, I don't have a clue how to remove the dash to even try to snake around with the antenna cord. There is nothing that stands out that would be an antenna.

im baffled how you are confused.

Cliff notes.

That user claimed buyhids were cheap
I was simply saying they weren't as he didn't buy a eBay kit

Pretty simple. Hope that clears it up for you!

Anyway marcus, I suggest you get wifey a nice ipod and aftermarket radio. IheartRadio will work for her! There on sale at target and i get my discount plus another 5% off!

That's the ONLY thing it doesn't have lol. iPods weren't invented in 2002 And mike, her dash is so seamless, I wouldn't know where to begin to take that dash apart.
