A battery is the best cap you can buy. A cap is usually 1 farad or so, batteries are like 3-4 farad, depending on exact specs. Get a nice Optima to replace the stock one, if that doesn't help you may need a second battery.

Go with a capacitor. Despite what some people claim, capacitors do work! You DO NOT need a second battery to support a 500 watt amp. I have a 2000 watt system with ONE battery and a capacitor and my lights do not dim! People can say what they want, but first hand experience tells me CAPS WORK! I had a 300 watt amp in my old car and my lights dimmed without a capacitor. When I added a 1 farad cap THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED and my sub also had more punch! I rely on real world evidence, not a bunch of numbers and here-say some people seem to like to throw around!

No problem! Search for a 1 farad capacitor on eBay. That's the cheapest place to buy one. I just got a 2 farad Tsunami for $65 + shipping! That's much cheaper than another battery!

a battery and cap are completely different... and if a battery had farad as one of the specs it would be higher then 3-4

also a good cap should fix any problems a 500w amp would do on the stock electrical. Personally im not sure if i would consider tsunami a good brand but ive never had any experiance with the caps themselves so im not sure...

Im wondering thou what kinds of proplems you guys are having because I have a 3000w class D amp and a 800w clas a/b amp and at pretty much full tilt the lowest ive seen my voltage was 11.9... Now i do have a upgraded battery and very thick wires plus that voltage is not what id consider good but for the power im running im very pleased

I compared the specs on the Tsunami cap to other brands, and they stack up pretty well against anything else on eBay. The specs you need to look at are the operating voltage and ESR. On the Tsunami, the operating voltage is 20V (with 24V surge), and the ESR (resistance) is less than .002 ohm. Here's the cap I bought, but from a different seller: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Tsunami-PP1002TM-...QQcmdZViewItem

All he needs is a 1 farad cap and he will be fine. Now if he adds another amp and starts pulling more power, a yellow top would be a nice upgrade.

IDK where every took their power from, but i'm running two 12" subs powered by a 1000W amp, and i have yet to see any* of my lights dim even the slightest, and i have NO cap with only the stock battery and alternator that comes with our cars. I'm actually surprised my car hasn't been shaken to peices from the subs, they hit hella hard.... I'll be switchin over to a 2000W amp 2nite and post if the lights dim then, but i'm still thinkin they won't.......(*interiors dim when door is open)

i was actually pretty surprised with the thickness of the stock wire... im used to seeing 12g or less as the battery ground so the big 3 isnt going to be as effective on our cars as others

k, wrong thread to be talking about that for one, and two- This is America dude, people can say what they want, when they want and no one should should be banned because of a statement made, whether right or wrong. This is a public forum. Another thing, I can support whoever I want. He has done nothing but help me when I had a question on anything when I first joined this site.
