it kinda sucks, all of these comapny's that make ipod adapters for factory cars of course dont make one for the cobalt. i went through this same problem, and yes itrips do suck. So i weighed out all the possible options, and for teh best option was to you a WIRED FM TRANSMITTER. it is a box with aux in put that gets plugged in in between ur antenna and factory stereo. This was the option that gave the best sound quality personly, and zero static. You can pick them up at circuit city or best buy for like bucks, simple install too.

i personally would just go to a best buy and get a FM modulator. that hooks up to the back of the hu by the antenna lines. and then gets pluged into the ipod. thats really the only way if u want the better sound and not a shitty FM transmitter.

Its always about money dude. I don't think anyone with a million bucks would be using an FM transmitter unless just for convenience.

A new deck that is ipod ready probably wont run you over 150. those radio transmitters are about 80 bucks

I don't know where you buy your radio transmitters. They're at target for $15.

I have th monster fm transmitter. It has a lot of stations to choose from so thats good but where i am the stations are packed. I made my own "shorty antenna" now it's a whole lot better.
