ok well here's some updated pics. the box is layered thick and i added some lightweight body filler. I was gonna use rage gold but the supplier i went to wanted too much money lol and i didn't feel like waiting for it to come in the mail. so i had to go with the shitty bondo ultra premium ****. it's not great but wutev. my hands hurt like a bitch from sanding bc i didn't have my blocks with me so i only sanded a little bit. I have a ton more sanding to do before she'll look good but here's the pics as of right now.

looks good. Are you going to paint the box or are going to wrap it in vinyl? Would look sweet if you painted it. I recently started two fiberglass boxes for my subs. They're gonna go on the sides of the trunk. I only have two layers of fiberglass down so far but I just haven't had time to lay down a couple more.

If those are firing up at your rear deck, good luck taming the rattles! Rear firing subs will almost always sound better than upward firing subs. Upward firing subs cause strange airflow patterns that don't allow you to get the most impact out of your subs.

Red face Sorry!

My bad! I was in a shitty mood last night so I felt like being a know-it-all *****! I'm too lazy to attempt fiberglass, it just seems like way too much work to me! Good choice on the subs! I have a JL 10w6 in their patented high-output box (another reason why I haven't attempted a fiberglass enclosure!). It sounds amazing! You can't go wrong with JL subs!

thanks. yeah the fiberglass boxes are alot of work but like others have said before the feeling when it's done and the satisfaction of knowing you didn't have to pay the premium of a specialty shop to do it is so worth it in the end. i know everytime i show someone i can say yeah i did it all myself. also, JL is the ****. so i can't wait to finally get these things bumpin.

dude u dont even want to know lol. the supplier I went to wanted a ridiculous price for rage gold and I just didn't have the funds. so in the long run i gave up and ended up getting bondo's ultimate lightweight filler. all in all it actually isn't that bad at all. i thinned it out a little more (if u want to call it a milk shake lol) with some resin and she went on real nice. the only problem is besides bondos way fast curing time the heat outside made me miss the green stage lol. so the sanding took a little bit but wutev. i just gotta add another thin coat to take care of some of the low spots then this bitch is getting her terminals and wrapped son!!!! ps the color was actually a light blue but it looks white in the pics.

-here's a good pic of the box after sanding that i forgot to put up

Hope it all works out well for ya. The only thing about building a custom box that I would be worried about is making sure the dimensions for the speakers were right on. Wouldn't want my speakers to sound like poo ya know

If anything that box would be too big for most subs, but I wouldrather build the box too big then too small!
Looks good so far impulse cant wait to see the end result!
