Installing a New System.
Installing a New System.
So I finally have most everything I need to put in my new system.
I just waned to double check it with the more experienced guys out there in ripping their cars apart before I went ahead and did the same thing.
Here's what I have for hardware to be installed -mind you, it's nothing fancy.
Pioneer DEH3100UB Radio

Two Pioneer 6 - 1/2'' 220W Model: TS-A1672R Speakers.

Two Polk 6x9'' 300W Model: DB691 Speakers.

Metra Dash Kit: 99-3302.
Metra Harness 70-2102.
Pioneer CD IU50 iPod Adapter.
So that's what I've got, my car is an 06' LS Sedan.
So far from what I've read, most of the information on the forums cover 07+ Cars, and SS Models. So I guess what I'm asking is:
A) Is what I have good to get me started? (Mainly the harness, the kid didn't seem to sure on if it would work or not at Best Buy...)
B) Do I need an Antenna adapter?
C) What tools are recommended specifically?
D) Will I need additional items such as screws, electrical tape, wire capping?
I've seen guides on removing the dash, but not on removing the front speakers, and very little on the rear...and also what other equipment is involved.
For example - one "How To" said that if the speakers don't hold get tape...or foam...or something that isn't secure to hold the speakers in...I really wouldn't trust a guide like that. (No Offense to the author...just it isn't very, for lack of a better word; professional.)
PS. If there ARE indeed "How-To" threads that cover SPECIFICALLY what I'm asking, regarding the 06 LS Model, Tools and Hardware FAQs, Etc Etc...let me know and do not berate me over the "Search" function. You very well know that it sucks.
:P

just a side note...you may want to consider buying a four channel amplifier to really use the speakers to their full potential...it would be easier to hook that up at the same time you do the installation so you dont have to remove the radio again
I was thinking that, one of the other members is selling a Pioneer Sub and amplifier for relatively cheap.
He might be a possibility...though wiring an Amp and Sub I would have NO idea where to start on.
I understand it's just connecting wires, but the craft of it is what I lack. I would want the amp and sub mounted somewhere that will not interfere with the other functions of my car.
As is I'm already lost on what to do for the Speaker and Head Unit install...hence my post.
I'm just trying to get everything I need and ensure what I have bought is correct.

harness needs to be 70-2103, you need the gm antenna adapter
if your buying tools id look into a panel popper, 7mm nut driver, chrimper/wire cutter (klein or ___ are the best) butt connectors or chrimp caps and speaker female disconnects would also be necessary
and as long as you have the metra it comes with the extended acc wire and fuse tap, an add a fuse unit would be icing on the cake if you want to pick it up but its not necessary

Some guy was telling me I needed a component...
I went to a place just to get quotes vs. doing it myself and the guy said like I needed a part...
"XSVI2103" - Or else my airbags won't go off or something?
He said it was like 60 bucks.
I also picked up the antenna adapter today.
Maybe it's just a harness because I showed him my 2102; I'm going to return it for the right one tomorrow at Best Buy.

not really. polis has the speaker harnesses for swapping out the door speakers. so instead of cutting the wires you just plug the harness in
any harness you get will require you to run the 12v acc wire to the fuse box. a real metra 2103 has the wire and fuse tap in the bag.

Well the act doesn't seem difficult...its just the idea behind it which I feel lost in.
Also, will the feature of the radio increasing volume be lost when installing this aftermarket radio?
What I mean is the compensation in sound for engine noise.

So it's installed and I'm getting my second set of speakers put in.
I've noticed that the kit isn't 100% flush to my car, it actually sticks out a bit, could it be because of the metal brace behind it?

I'll consider the xsvi-2103 in the future.
Right now it's installed and running to the ignition with a 2103 Kit I bought off of eBay for like 10 bucks, it does the job.
When I get the cash I'll most definitely do the xsvi-2103, I get mad that the radio doesn't stay on.
I have an 06 though, not an 07...so I still here chimes?
Unless there are certain ones I will and won't hear?
Still wondering what to do on the unit not being flush...pics soon.

Pink wire on the fuse box to the left of the front passenger area.
It provides power when it turns on, but unfortunately removes all power when the car turns off.
I miss the hessitation to turn of until the door opens or several minutes pass.
I've heard that if I get a Check Engine light the data wont store because it runs through the radio too.
