iPod in SS

I want to hook my iPod up through my stock head unit on my SS S/C. I absolutely refuse to use a garbage FM tuner again, none of them work as good as a direct line. Has anyone here found the converters so I can wire it directly? Everywhere I look on the net I havn't found one yet. Has anyone done this yet? Just wondered. I'm tired using this FM modulator..

cvenom that will not work with the Pioneer HU. Sorry man

I'm also curious on this.

I would settle for something as simple as this but I doubt it'll be available for the pioneer setup

I guess a good starting point would be to research these ?'s
What does the back of the Stock HU Look like?
How does XM interface with the stock HU?
Does the factory Pioneer have IP-Bus?

Yea I got that pioneer system. Crutchfield online is saying it wont work with my system. I saw there is a pioneer one that works with pioneer head units. I wonder if it would work for my car.

Ya that's cool. But the SS came with the steering wheel controls. Not to be lazy. But I wanna control my iPod through my head unit and my steering wheel. Then I could tuck my iPod away in that lil storage compartment or the glovebox and not have to worry about cycling through my music while driving. It's a pain trying to find a song, pay attention to the road, and shift all at the same time.

Sounds like you and I have the same idea of having full controll over the IPOD via stock controlls. Unfortunatly an aftermarket HU is the only way to go for now.

I'm by far not an expert on this topic....But could you not just splice a cable into the leads running to the factory amp (from the HU)? The other end of the cable would be a headphone connector that plugs into the iPod. It's not pretty, but beats the hell out of an FM modulator.

I've always wanted to buy a $499 Mac Mini and place a foldout LCD right under the stock stereo. Then you could control all your music from there.
