I like my JL's. I got three w3's sitting around. I'm still deciding if I should leave my 10" Infinity kappa in the cobalt or replace it with one of my 12" w3. IDK. I want the deep notes but SQ is also very important.

Any thoughts Emperor?

Well, I've had both subs. I had a 13w6 and I had two 15w3v2s. The 15w3v2s hit way harder than the 13w6.

I can't really tell you about the 10w3v2s, though. =\

w3 wont be as precise as the infinity perfect. ive had both. the w3 is a beefier sub and can take the watts better and sound louder but the infinity will have a slight edge on sound quality. also remember 10" woofer = more sq less cone area not as loud. if you need louder bass id say switch. you shouldnt notice that much of a sq difference. but this is all amp and enclosure specific its really hard to say anything specific you can just be general with it.
i love my 2 perfects but i fried the voice coils. the jls will clip way before you fry them lol. jls handle the wattage better. hell just put the 12w3 in a sealed enclosure and kiss the perfect good bye

so is a sealed box or a ported box better? Or does it just depend on how you want it to sound?

also depends on the subwoofer.. 10w3s perform great in a sealed enclosure as far as loudness goes

as for the solo X's those are so beast lol, the magnet on those is rediculouse. but pricy, i guess you get what you pay for though or you can wait to catch the deals. usualy when the new models come out the price drops in half depending on the dealer you goto

custom if you can but that can get expensive, just look around and find a prefab box online thats close to the reccomended cu ft. for the subs

Ported will get much lower and are orientated more for lower frequencies... It depends alot on what type of music you listen to... If you listen to alot of rock and such.. Sealed is better, if you listen to more rap and such ported is better altered

Agreed
As long as you have the right tools (and a jig saw shouldn't be used for anything other than the sub holes) and some patience.

Check out the Digital Designs website. They have a few good tips on box design/building

yup did an entire "ed" install for some guy in a civic. we did a pretty badass job on everything (components up front, coax in the rear, 5 channel amp, pair of 10s in a sealed box) but it sounded like complete garbage. mids and highs were fucked subs weren't really loud but sounded very bad... might as well have been inverted
