JL or Kicker?

I'm thinking about scrapping my Kicker syetem for a modest JL system.

1 10" JL W3 250w DVC 4ohm
1 JL e1200 275w(200RMS) Mono Amp

I'm going for SQ over SPL. Right now I have
1 12' Kicker Solo-baric L5 DVC 4ohm
1 Kicker Kx600.1 600w(300RMS) Mono Amp

I'm mainly looking for something that fits my trunk better. I'll probably go for a sealed box as well. Maybe even do some custom fiberglass.

If I do decide to do it, I'll either put the kicker stuff up on eBay or if someone wants to buy it from here I'll do that too.(I'm looking for ~$300)

depends on what you want your subs to do...
if you want all out loud bass then kicker
if you want better SQ..then JL

i dont really think you'll be SQ'n with that jl system... not sayin it wont sound good. but i dont think it'll have very much output... just go ported and tune very low to get a nice smooth response from the woofer. especially since you're using a low powered amp.

yeah, I don't listen to much rap. I listen to alot of rock, and Techno. I'd like crisp, tight bass(my reasoning behind a sealed box). I'm not going for loudness, I MAY go for 2 10's and a bigger amp. I eventually want to upgrade my speakers(I have Infinitys in the rear.) and toss in a 4 channel amp and some components.

I heard the W3 at the local shop but he was pushing it with a 500watt amp(JL) that he gained down. He did have the e1200 on the display wall as well, but I guess he didn't feel like switching to that(seemed shady to me).

ok. dont listen to someone that just drops brands, and doesnt give you reasoning...

with listening to techno and rock, id say upgrade the doors to real nice set of components with some good clean power behind them... and still, a single 10" ported for bass.... if done right and tuned right, you wont get that loud boomy crap...

i wasn't saying that i dont like them, personnaly i own 2 13w7's and they do sound nice but there is brands out there that would fit what you want better if you listen to alot of rock and music where the bass just hits over and over really fast i would look in to mtx 7500 down to the 5500 because they are a really tight sub

Kicker is a joke compared to JL Audio.

Go for JL

I have used their speakers/amps forever and will never touch anything else.

Pay to play.

I am not so familiar woth audio systems, but i when i was shopping for an audio system, I thought for the price the Kicker was the best. I mean the solobaric 12" L7 is just freaking awesome. I have the Kx 800 amp though, but it rocks. But go with the Jl if you dont like Kicker anymore man. You get what u paid for.

I listen to a lot of euro, electronic, happy hardcore, alternative and occasionally hip hop and find that I get the best/clearest bass with Kaption Audio. I have gone through quite a few subwoofers already (either blown or stolen).

This sub (in a sealed box) gives you amazingly clear bass/sub compared to the JL's and Kickers of which I had both at one time.

You do need a lot of juice for them though, so I have a 2-channel AMP bridged to provide about 450W RMS to the sub. And I have a separate AMP providing 4x100W RMS for my components (front and rear) which are Kickers.

If you can get a hold of the Kaptions, I highly reccommend it. They are extremely hard to find (but very well priced).

But check out the site for the specs.
