JL system installed....WOW

I just put in 2 JL audio 12" W3 V4's in a custome box and a JL 500 amp. I love the bass...100 times better over stock....I just wonder when the car companys are going to fade away from the speakers they sell at best buy... got to love JL....good stuff at a decent price.

If you can afford them, JL Audio and Rockford Fosgate are the best, but for those on a cheaper budget, or rather put more into other things, there are a few out there that arent bad for the mone. Unfortunately my two 15" RF's wont fit in my SS, so I'll prolly put them in w/e 4x4 beater i get, unless someone near me is interested, but that is all, dont wanna turn this into a classifieds add.

i got a "custom"(mirrors, chrome, etc.) bandpass box, so it's bigger then the reg. boxes you see most sub's in, i've measured the box, now i just gotta measure the opening,, but visually, it doesnt look big enough, maybe removign the back seat will give me a little bit more room? if nething, I'ma wait untill they come up w/ one of the set-ups like they have for the Cavy's and Sunfires that have the Fiberglass or Carbonfiber set-ups to replace the rear seat. I had the system in a 98 Grand Prix GT, big diff in trunk room

well, i just checked and the box is about 1in. too tall, and then it would still be rubbing the top of the opening, maybe i can just find a smaller one that will still have the right area for the subs to work right

B/c not everyone wants a back massage when they turn up the radio. Besides they would need to offer more than just the subs in a package.

Also, decent price??? from what I know they are one of the most expensive.

On a side note... does the cobalt trunk rattle a lot from the subs?

I have a 1000 watt MTX amp and two MTX 12's in my 06 SS and the car rattles horribly. I don't even suggest putting a system into these cars.

i dont know, I think alpine type r and x subs would blow anything from rockford away, I have 2 type r 12's in mine with a JL 500x1, and it hits hard. I am going to get another 500x1 and run each of them with one, i think that would be a lot louder than just buying a 1000x1. As far as clarity, I have all type r speakers, 6 1/2 components up front, and 6 1/2 coaxials in the back, i want to get the type x components, but they are extremely expensive, i will get the ivad301 before i get those speakers....... Is say JL and Alpine are the best, but the alpines are a little cheaper, as far as the speakers go....... Someday when i win the lotto, I would def. get a 12W7, but the damn thing weighs like 52 pounds without a box....... not going to do much for the SS's acceleration...... lol

I'd imagine it's quite expensive...but you'd have to be a fool to put it in anything other than a showcar unless you have gobs of money to waste.

Did you see the pimp my ride episode where they put it in the car? 3 batteries 6 capacitors and 5 amps.. hit 139 dB though....crazy for just one sub...350lbs sub tho.

JL doesn't have a 12 w3 v4. They haven't made a fourth version yet. The most current version is the second or v2.
