Jvc Exad Kw-avx800
i have the 706 which I believe came out about a year before this. Personally, I believe it came with a lot for what I paid for it ($600 shipped). It's pretty much the same as this unit (wish I had waited) except no touchscreen, 2.5V preouts instead of 5v, no bluetooth like this one, and no usb. However, my 706 works perfectly fine for over a year.
for 706...
Likes:
- media can be stored on pretty much anything dvd, cd, sd, ipod, etc., it can play mpeg files (the 800 can even run divx), the joystick (takes a while to get use to but nice alternative for navigating thru menus considering it wasn't a touchscreen)
- ability to play mp3, wma, and wav files all on one dvd disc
- ability to shut off internal amp
Dislikes:
- no customizable wallpapers and limited selection of them
- during dvd playback you need the remote for navigating thru dvd menus
- no music playback while viewing pics (you can only play one type of media on disc/sd: music, video, pics) Music files have the highest precedence. For whatever reason it doesn't read what else is on disc. ie you put music in one folder and pics in a another it will only see the music
------
Some of my issues might have been taking care of in 800 I suggest you go to a local store and play around with it maybe even bring in a couple dvd's to see how everything works before making the decision.
