Kicker cv10

I bought a Kicker cv10 with a kicker ZX300.1 amp. Yes, I know it's small but my ears are sensitive to too much bass and since the sub can do 400 rms and the amp no more than 300 rms i figured it was a good setup for wut i like. Well i ordered it thru a friend and it finally came in but the sub was mounted in a small box to fit in a truck. My intentions are to find a stock cobalt pioneer box and swap my sub into it and get the box color matched and painted to my car (just my personal preference). My question is, the sub CAN be removed from the box and switched and still sound good right? Or are there some things that i should watch out for?

even though its shallow i can't get it cut or anything to fit?

edit** the kicker site says that its 4 3/16 of an inch thick or 10.7 cms. Do you know how deep the stock box is?

bump for answer on stock sub box depth

Yea. There are some people on the site that I know have cut holes in the back for the magnet of a sub and sealed around the edge. Don't know how well that worked though. Or you can make a lip ring that is just slightly thicker then you need (measure bro) to keep the magnet from touching the back of the box. Bolt it to the box, use some putty or bondo to smooth it into the rest of the box, and paint. You did say you were going to paint right? Think that way would work best if you are.

well here's wuts gonna happen... i got in touch with a guy who's gonna take the sub outta the box it came in and build me one to fit like the stock one. i have the option of getting a glassed one or carpeted, im probably just gonna do carpeted so that it will look stock. on a side note, i'm also getting polk momo's for the front and rear (components in the front) along with a pioneer AVH-P4000 double din. i'm hoping to be really satisfied with this setup

To look stock, you need glass or bondo and paint, not carpeted.

its not going to be any bigger than the stock box, so it'll still sit on the side of the trunk.. its a shallow 10 not a huge 12.. having a painted box would look stock?

Closer to stock. Since the stock box is black plastic, if you paint it with a non-gloss black it will look pretty close.

Well if you get it carpeted, make sure you match the stock carpet.

personally every kicker ive dealt with was loud but sounded "bad" a sealed box is going to limit output somewhat but might give u slightly better sound quality (but dont expect anything great) Honestly for a starter small system you will be fine. Also when ur in the seats not hearing them from the trunk they soudn a bit better. I bet you will really like it... worlds better then stock

see its weird with me, i like loud, but not if its like ring my ears loud... I found out about the setup by playing with it at Circuit City with the AVic-D3 as the headunit. I know the AVH-p4000 is no D3, but im sure it will be able to give me wut i want. I had polk DB's in my cavy so im anxious to hear how the momos do.
