So I pretty much knew that the G5 is the Sunfire's heir and the Cobalt is the Cavalier's heir as far as powerplant goes they are nearly similar, most of the parts anyway.
So I was at the junkyard and saw about 6 or 7 totaled out Cav's and was looking for a few little oddities (Such as the wiring harness for the cigarette lighter (For accessory power) So I pulled the first one I saw out, and it was terribly corroded so I moved onto the next.
The next one was chopped all to hell but the person who took the dash, left the cigarette lighters (Both of them) still connected to the vehicle. I pulled them out because the 2 cigarette lighters in the cobalt have different connections that the other (You can't use 1 power connection in the other as they each have a specific groove that only fits a certain connector.)
So I pulled them out and holy ****, the ones in the cavalier are identical to the ones in the cobalt except they are universal. Meaning they were both the same connection type with no special groove. Same 12V wiring (16 ga) even, even the same damn colored wiring. So I finish up what I really went there for (An evaporator for my wife's nissan) and head home.
I just thought I'd share that it would seem chevrolet recycled the wiring aspect of the interior for the cobalt so if you run into an issue like I did trying to find electrical components for the interior, I would highly suggest looking at totaled out Cavs (Most Junkyards have these on their lots because of old the model is)
I'm not sure if all the electrical wiring is the same and I'm curious to know if some of the instrument wiring / connections are the same. Would mean that replacing those "Specialty" electrical pieces won't be such a headache in the future.

To me is really just a cheat to use old stuff but to cover costs I can understand it. Do I have a unique Cobalt? Yes, but do I have an electrically unique car? Hell no!
