Led map lights staying on

Hello, as the title states I just installed led map lights and they never really go out. They become super super dim but definitely stay on. I also replaced my license plate light and that does not do the same thing.

I got T10 led bulbs from eBay.

I will check and see how much voltage is being sent to the map lights tomorrow with a voltmeter but I was just seeing if anyone else has run into this.

Thanks!

No. It's because they need a resistor soldered in. If not, they will always have constant power. Regardless it won't drain your battery. To solve the issue solder in a 1ohm resistor into each led.

So the license plate bulb is an exception? You said it won't drain my battery regardless, i assume this is from experience? Draining my battery was my main concern. I just put a new battery in it when I got it out of storage a few weeks ago. When you say solder an ohm resistor into the led do you mean along one lead?

No it won't drain your battery. I decided to have resistors put in because I didn't want a light constantly on inside of my car.
