line converter

I bought a line converter, and i hooked it up and ran my speakers wires and so on. Then for my remote wire i ran a wire to the underhood fuse box and tied it into my cigar fuse, only thing i could think of at the moment that still see's 12v in the acc position. Now, my question is i get a humming noise and low to moderate playin levels, i believe its because the wire is going though some RFI disturbances or something? what else could i use as a source for a for 12v reference for my amp ? thanxs...

you can get a filter and put it inline with your power that should take care of the humming

hook it up to the windshield wiper fuse #15 in the passenger side fuse box... this is what crutchfield recommends and it's the easiest location.

guy from work sold me a quantum 1000watt amp or something close to that for cheap, so im using that now. puts out nice power but it just sounds like i have a ghetto system when it whines and and low playing levels. i guess i can try the windshield wiper fuse and see how that goes. i already tried to use a ground isolator, but to no success...

I have quality components, such as the rca cbles, amp(sony), subs(sony), so the quality is not the problem, i think it has to do wit hthe unshielded wire i ran to the underhood fuse box...im gonna try to re route it to see if it gets less interference

Maybe check your grounds too? An uncovered wire shouldn't really produce that much noise if, if any noise at all. Also you could run the wire to your door pins. Thats what I have my headunit ran to Everything turns off when i open the door :-) haha its pretty nifty.

Well, i installed my system again, and found out using the cigar(lighter) fuse i believe it called, was causing my amp to have interference because after the key was turned off the RAP feature keep sending power to the amp, and i think it was gettin some weird signal. Anywho, now the problem i have no is i cannot find a fuse that lets me turn on my amp in the ACC position on the igniton cyclinder. all i found are ones that have to have the ON position to work ? anybody have any ideas on what other 12v source i can use ?

Yeah but that might make a terrible noise with the wipers on...
