MP3 player adapter?
MP3 player adapter?
I know this question has probably been asked on here before, but i was wondering if there is an aftermarket device that lets you plug an mp3 player (i have a dell dj) into the factory radio. I have an fm kit or whatever and the fuzz sucks. I know the new impala and monte carlo have one built into the dash, and i have seen kits for an iPOD, but i have a dj... the connectors are different. anyone know anything? the iPOD kit i saw let you charge the iPOD, play the songs, displayed track tags on the car stereo and let you use the stereo or steering wheel controls to adjust songs/ volume.
I think you would need the actuall stereo from the Impala or Monte Carlo. I've never heard of any kind of adapter that would let you do that. it sounds to me like there is a lot of programming embedded in the Impala stereo to let it communicate with the I-pod.... good luck though.

and its only an AUX port so you wont have charging or steering wheel controls ... here is a closer look at the setup

Yeah, i saw one in an HHR at my dad's dealership... i just am like you, don't know if its an exact swap for the new unit. i guess i'll find out i the coming months. you would think if they are trying to market this technology to MP3 player owners, they'd have it standard or at least as an option in the cobalt... typically we are the younger, more in tune generation, not impala owners... but oh well... maybe soon i'll get something figured out. i HATE the fm if i hadn't mentioned it already...
skoshi130, you're the man... here's the link... this unti sounds awesome... basically converts the stock head unit to an aftermarket system and has the mp3 player jack... thanks. here it is...

I trip ... allready mentiond ..it sucks for quality of sound .. I bought on and returned it 2 days later
Yeah, I already have an FM transmitter. I am just looking for something else. I love the first product i posted, but i had to be an idiot and buy a dell mp3 player when i bought my new pc... if only i would have bought an iPOD then all my problems would be solved.

except for that product that you posted not working on the cobalt ....yet
I know... maybe one day they'll get in tune with what we need. Its a great car, i love everything about it exxcept that missing feature. i'm sure aftermarket is ready to drop a ton of products to support this feature, i just have to wait...

I guess it's my fault not saying 05-06 cobalts or something like that. Does anyone know if it's compatable? I mean, they have a picture on the site. Does anyone know who has taken it apart before. A picture!
