I have run pioneer subs before. They are descent for the price. 90 bucks for 2 is a great price though.

For the price you can't complain. I think that's even cheaper than what DUAL was offering and DUAL has paper cones that blow up with 45 watts .

Good Company/Brand... not their top of the line stuff, but still reliable. I would say check the specs of the boxes to see what type of sq. footage they have, but otherwise looks good to me.

If you want a good deal go to a site called www.etronics.com and get the 10" kicker comp Vr's. I have these subs and they sound great. They are like 55 a piece and you can get free shipping if you use the shipping code. FREESHIP I have used this site a bunch of times.

Both my amps use a fuse tap on an empty fuse for the remote turn on lead

I was thinking to tap it into my sunroof but both my gauges are already tapped into that fuse.

I would just keep your R-type and have the fiberglass boxes built to the specs of that sub. When I first read what you wanted to do, in a different post, and you were looking for a picture I make a quick mock up of what you were thinking about doing. This was something quick and not all flashy and it is made out of particle board rather than MDF but it was just a model to show you. It is not fiberglassed into the side because it is too cold for me to do that right now. But here was what I was able to do with what I had laying around and 2 days of work.

If you were to spread it out into that contor more than I did than it wouldn't need to stick out as far as mine does. It still takes up alot less space that a normal box does.

Damn man, thanks for the mockup, I cant believe you spent all that time, It looks awesome and pretty much exactly what im looking for, I really appreciate it. Since you seem like an expert in that enclosure you had does it have enough CF for the sub to sound good? All im worried about is that side area not having a big enough oppening dip in the back for good sound

If you have the enclosure made to spec for the sub it will sound great. If I did my math correctly this is around 1cf before the sub displacement is added in and to spec it wants .85cf (after sub displacement I believe). There is also 1.5 inches free behind the magnet, and that is a 12" sub in there.

I can not say that this enclosure sounds that great. Like I said it is made out of particle board rather than MDF so the resonace factor is pretty bad. There is one layer of fleece and then 3 layers of glass with a bondo top coat and it does not flex on hits (I would enforce it a bit more if I was going to use it for long term though). Also, if I would have thought about it a bit more I would have angled the sub more twords the front where I angled it wrong and it points slightly to the rear.

That initial pic of a sub in a fiberglassed painted box in the corner is that a setup for a cobalt or some other car? Cause I would love one of those...

Yeah its a setup for a balt, and today I was quoted at $550 for each side!!! Man I wish i knew how to fiberglass, and or had the tools and workspace. I dont know if I can save and then spend that much money on this, what do you guys think is that a good price?

You could buy all the materials to make this project 10 times over for that price. You would be much better off buying some stuff and just trying it out on your own. Even if you find you don't have the time, skill, or patients for it the cost of the try is minimal compared to what it might save you in the long run.
