It was pretty strait forward, ive installed lots of head units though so if you have the right tools its pretty easy. I also got the unit to stay on when the car is off until you open the door. Very easy as well.

How much did that run you? Also, is it just one of those that you pop the dvd in and it plays or did you have to get a separate dvd player?

How did you get it to come on when the key is in ACC and stay on when the car is off?? I have a base model....so I can't tap anything like a "sunroof fuse"..the wiring isn't there for it. Just wondering how you got yours to do that.

I got it for 999 canadian at A and B sound. My car seems to be used for my girlfriends closet as well as car. hence the make up. But i do like the song :P

to get ACC to work....
I have a 05 LS with no sunroof and it had a sunroof fuse so i used that but any fuse that is under there can be used, like windows or door locks ect... the wireing kit cam with a little metal thing to connect to one tooth of the fuse so you pull the fuse out connect the wire and put the fuse back in very simple.

No, you can't use any fuse in there. If you tap the door lock fuse like you suggested, the radio would never turn off!

Why wouldnt the door lock fuse work, but the sunroof, windows work?

Because the red wire you run into the fuse box is the radio's switched wire(its turn on signal). In other words, whenever you provide power to that red wire, the radio turns on. The sunroof circuit only has power when the ignition is on (or after you shut the car off with RAP).

The door lock circuit has power all the time; the power door locks work whether the key is on, off, not in the car, whatever. So if you hook the switched radio wire up to the door lock circuit, the radio would never shut off!

So since you want the radio to work with the ignition on, you need to hook it up to a circuit that is hot when the ignition or acc is on; ie, the sunroof.

Bro that looks sooooo sweet! Congratulations. If you could write up a little how-to, you would be the man!
Things like:

What dash kit is that, where did you get it?
Any special wire harneses?
If you have steering wheel controls, can you keep them?
Things like that. A little how-to. Thanks and congrats again.

First to remove the dash panels i used this how to https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/disassemble-dashboard-radio-related-panels-7236/

The harness was made by metra and it was for a malibu i believe. and the dash kit was made by them as well, it works for the cobalts as well as lots of other new GM vehicles. I dont have the steering wheel controls yet but im ordering a unit which should let me use them again. Its pretty strait forward just connect the right wires and your done.

The wiper circuit will work, but you won't get RAP (where the deck stays on until you open a door).
