ok, so i just bought a hifonics 1000watt rms amp @ 1ohm and i plan on ordering a soundstream tarantula T5 12" and putting it in a sealed box, will it hit real hard in a small sealed (i prefer sealed enclosures) or should i get a larger slot box, i do not know anything abot tuning a box so that is what confuses me

Well, good luck with whatever you do....

 

A sealed box tends to have cleaner bass response. A slot ported box is going to be slightly bigger and will make the sub hit louder, but not as crisp.

As for the box design, the tarantula's are pretty beefy subs... I would say go to www.caraudio.com and become a member on the forums. One of the threads is for Enclosure design and somebody there would be more than willing to give you exact box dimensions.

 

i would look into getting a different sub sub go with a kicker l7 and make sure the amp has a sub sonic filter running the amp at 1 ohm will kill the amp faster and lower its efficency

ported box will be much bigger then a sealed box and really needs to me designed correctly
a 1 ohm amp will handle 1 ohm no need to run higher resistance (quality of different amps can be a concern thou)
kicker actually is decent product

 

i like the sound stream products and i love the T5, my buddyt as only one in his truck and it rattles the thing apart
