Need help!!!

Ok just to get this out of the way:
06 Cobalt SS/SC
pioneer 7 speaker

Ok before I got my new headunit I was running factory with line converter for aftermarket subs and it sounded good. But now after putting the aftermarket headunit in I can't even turn the volume up enough to hear the aftermarket subs. Is this due to the factory amp that is in the car or something else? This isn't the first time I have install an aftermarket HU but it is as far as into a car with a factory amp in it.

Anyone?????

its due to the factory amp... with the new hu its getting a lot more power then before. and depending on the hu the subs are getting less or a little more power

So would running new wires from the headunit to the speakers resolve this?

the HU is a DEH-P980BT
and at half volume it is loud as hell!!!!

an amp bypass would help yes. the issue you will run into thou is the front speakers are ran off diffrent channels on the amp. so you would need a crossover for the fronts

what if I just ran new wires from the HU to the speakers leaving the factory amp out of it completely?

That would work. In fact, I would probably encourage that Richard. You'll most likely get better sound by doing that anyways.

thats what i was talking about. you would need some sort of crossover for the tweeters if you did that (mind you due to the molex plug in the doors your wouldnt really want to run the wires completely in the doors but just to the factory amp and wire them in after the amp)

no your best bet would be to buy some actual crossovers. or rcas to use the preouts on the deck instead of speaker wires... you would either need to find a set that has the power/ground seperated or buy a normal set cut them and sorta ghetto rig it. the outer wires are ground and the inner are power

whatever i guess... the cheapest thing would be just a cap for the tweeter(if you research the one you would need it might even be better then buying a random crossover but its also dangerous bc if you don't and just throw a random cap on there then **** will hit the fan). The best bet would be something designed for 2 ohm but i doubt your gonna find that

Richard. If you're off this Friday then come to RNR. We'll be there ALL day, and I'll get Adam to look at it for you.

Naw, I already got a new one coming. The one that is messed up is a Rockford Fosgate P300-1. The one on the way is a Rockford Fosgate P500-1bd. I am going to wire it down to 1ohm this time so I should get more out of my set-up this time. Then in a few months or so I will start replacing the factory speakers when I have the money. I am interesting in seeing how much of a change I get with the new set-up.

I am not exactly sure what is wrong with the old one. Simply put it is like there is no signal or power coming out of it. It powers up no problem but that is the only thing it does.
