new fob in 2010 brochure?

Anyone try the new key fob in the 2010 Cobalt brochure? Just curious, because I like it. It's the new one with a starter, antenna, screen, etc. Any chance I can update my old style to this new one? I bet it'd be costly though.. Anyone use them yet? They've been out for at least a year (Malibu, etc)..

EDIT:

Yeah, I'd definitely buy it if there's a way to have it work with the older models. I have an 09 so it shouldn't be too hard.

2-way technology and a convenient display screen shows the last command performed using your remote transmitter (e.g. locked doors, remote start engaged, etc.) as well as important vehicle data, including remote start count down timer, tire pressures, fuel level, and odometer. This system offers greater operating range than the factory keyless entry system, and the transmitter can control a second Advanced Remote Start-equipped vehicle

It shows that, for everyear as an option...

But that's not the remote you will get

I thought you weren't allowed to have remote start in a manual car?

It's possible. My stereo guy had an alarm/remote start that worked with manuals but you had to do some ridiculous set of things every time you turned your car off to make it work.

Don't leave it in gear. Solved. lol

The fob is basically just an up-level upgrade for those of you who want a nice fob without having a second tacky one. I'd get it if it worked..

Yeah, I heard it's illegal for them to install it on manual cars. I know you can just leave it in neutral but whatever. I guess we'll find out.

i like it, but it wouldn't work with any older systems because its a 2way system were as all older model cobalt's are just a standard 3or4 Channel security system. you would have to change your whole security system over. chance of it being plug and play are slim? i think would be better to just put a 2way viper in. and cheaper

In a lot of states it is.

Yeah, without the two way system it's basically an overpriced piece of plastic. Better off with an aftermarket solution.

for my auto start i have to push in the foot brake and pull the hand brake and then let off the foot brake and wait for it to click and then shut it off and it stays running until you close the door. It has to be in neutral for all of this obviously.

Sorry to bump this, but there's two part numbers for cobalts. 19213691 for $250 and 19213692 for $150. It's the same part number for 2008-2010, not sure if it works with older models and I don't know the difference between parts. The descriptions are the same.
