I got a new Sony stereo for Christmas for my 06 Cobalt LT. I have been doing a little looking online and it kind of seems like I may run into some problems.

I have the pioneer speakers and controls on my steering wheel.

What I am reading is that the wiring harness is going to cost me a lot of money over 175..(I was given a wiring harness with my stereo that was not that much money. I have also heard that when installing a new CD player it messes with the Driver information center?

I just want any information or useful help anyone has on putting in a new stereo. Is it worth it? Whatever you have! I want to know if it's even worth it. I am mainly wanting to put this in so I don't have to listen to my iPod through an FM adapter! Thank you in advance for any information!

 

well the audio/video faq found in the audio section will answer most of the questions and depending on what harness you got (part numbers also found in the faq section) will determine what is kept and not. now if its the correct cheap harness you will loose your door chimes and thats about it. as for messin with the DIC no it will not because the DIC is seperate on our cars compared to some other GM's

door chimes are retained in 06 cars regardless of radio. as is DIC. steering wheel controls would require a module and tends to be pricey

read the faq and u should be able to install you new present without much hassle
