Question new to speakers

hy I need help with planing my sound system. First of all what size speakers are in our cars? O I have a 07 ls
What do I need to wire a sub up to the factory wiring harness will it have both left and right channels
what do you recommend

Is this a good deal

I found a local shop selling a diamond m3 kit which included 2 mid with built in tweeters and 2 separate tweerters with a ( I think this is right) converter to split the signal for the tweeters and the mid. for ( on the boxes) $65+ tax (o 3 inch mid)

They also had some 3 inch kicker mids for $23 and oval don't know the size for $35 a pair

what do y'all think?

6.5's up front and 6x9is in back

I strongly reccomend components up front, I use Alpine Type-R's and they sound amazing, even on the stock headunit

Yes, 6.5's circular, 6x9's are oval shaped. Diamond makes some good stuff, I don't think you can go wrong with those prices. Look up the model numbers and do some research and look up reviews on them.

In our sound systems the weakest part is the mid-range. Our highs and lows are great, but if you listen to any rock or metal it will suffer... Get a kit with some mid-range, seperate components would be the best route, but that can get expensive. Running a new amp and sub is easy as hell, the battery is in the trunk

Are you looking to replace the stock headunit? If so, you're stuck in the same boat as me.. the 05's and 06's don't need a special harness, however the 07's will lose the factory signals and chimes if you remove the H/U. You'll need a GMOS-LAN-03 if you don't have the Pioneer system, GMOS-LAN-04 if you do have it.. Metra cary both.
Trust me, I have an 07, I disconnected the H/U and tested it, sure enough the chimes were all gone; don't let other people tell you it's BS and a lie.

If you don't want to replace the stock H/U and want a new sub, you can run a line-level-converter (I think thats the name of it.. can't remember atm ) from the rear speakers to your new amp.

You can find a lot in this forum by searching, and there's a lot of good people who can answer anything you need

I haven't done it personally (yet ), but if I remember they're screwed into the door frame. So yea, you'll have to pop the plastic off. There's a how-to somewhere in the how-to section.

taking off the door panels is ez but unfor the non pioneer systems have ghetto speakers and the braket needed to fit the 6.5 speakers are built in the speakers but for the pioneer equipt balts the braket was seperate

I just replaced my entire system and I have an 07 LT2 w/o the pioneer system. I added MTX TX6001 6.5 componets up front ( did not have to fab any type of bracket ) am MTX TDX6903 6x9's in the rear. I have a 4 channel Fosgate amp ( had an MTX TE404 but it had a defect so I went with the rockford fosagte amp ) pushing 65 watts rms @ 4 ohms running them and I also have a MTX Thunderlink XTL210P. I went with a JVC double din KW-XG700 since it had dual pre amp out puts plus a seperate sub output. I used the GMOS-LAN-03 adapter but it caused static in the speakers. I undid the wires for the chimes and just ran a seperate 3.5 speaker under the dash for the chimes so it wouldn't cause static w/ the radio when it was playing. I spent a little more than I was planning but I have to admit it sounds pretty damn good! the battery is not the best for hooking up power wires. I also had the 2 amps and the battery grounded to the trunk and I am not having any problems with the lights dimming.

Good luck with whatever brand you decide to go with and enjoy your new system!

Our battery setup isn't the easiest to connect up to! Of course I ran my power wire from the battery, just had to modify it a little!
