OEM Pioneer Tweeters Incredibly Sensitive?!
Hey guys.
Ever since I got my car a few months back, I've noticed that with some CD's I play, the tweeters sound really scratchy. I especially notice it from my passenger one. It seems to be CD's that wave a little wear to them. Not a brand new CD, but like if it was in a case, it seems to do it a little. It's kinda hard to explain unless it's a common problem. But then for new CD's, the tweeters are perfect.
The set up is the OEM MP3/CD player, and OEM Pioneer component system.

i'm very sensitive to audio stuff and i have noticed exaclty the same thing...they arent sensitive, just amplify the higher frequencies pretty well - when a cd begins to get worn it becomes noticeable if you really listen.

no i hear you, my alpine component set did that until i adjusted the crossover, they seemed like they were blown and i was like no way in hell, after adjusting the crossover, they sound fine, had to readjust the head unit a little as well, gotta love alpine decks...... 10 million things to change, and i dont know what any of them do... well i do, but theres a lot i dont understand, only thing i can say to do is turn the treble down a little and see?

Yeah. But wouldn't it do it on ALL CD's? If I go to the store right now, buy Slim Thug, and throw it in, it's crystal clear. But as soon as it gets one little tiny imperfection on the CD, BAM! You get the noise. And there really isn't anything on the deck it's self to adjust besides the treble as you mentioned. And yes, I'd get an Alpine if I got anything. But I'm still deciding. But is this a problem that I could go to the dealership and get fixed under the warranty since it's OEM equipment (besides my Infinity subs)? Or can't they do anything for me warranty wise?

you might be able to take it to the dealership and have them clean the laser on the cd player. that might be the only thing you can do, but ya i have it too but only with scratched up cds. he couldnt have put it any better, it sounds exactly like that record needle.

I'll probably just put up with it until I have to take the car in for something else. Then just have them look at it. I don't want my car in the shop for 3 days for something dumb. lol.
