old school rf punch amps
Hey whats up guys,
Im thinking about picking up an old school rf punch amp.If you know about these amps,u know they are way underrated. You think it would be a smart move? Its either that or im thinking about picking up a jl amp. What other amps do you rec?Im looking for a 2 ch for my jl sub.Its only a 10w1 in the stock box.The guy at the store i bought it from says i can throw atleast 400w to it.Im gonna get a 4 ch amp for the other speakers, but for now im looking for an amp for the sub.

I think it was the 360 a2.It may not handle 400 continuous watts, but ive heard of people pushing atleast 300 to them.I wanna buy a decent amp incase i upgrade my subs, this way i wont have to buy another amp.I just wont turn the gain all the way up.What kind of amp would you recommend?
lol too bad the whole company really went to the ******* nowadays
yes people have and can push the limits but few people get away with it. Ultimately most issues with blown subs is user error or installer error. Very few are actual manufacture defects.
i would get the bigger amp and run it at half power impedance wise... i belive they make those subs in single 8ohm if nessicary

You mean get a Titanium series and you'll be happy
An old shcool RF Punch 40 or 60 should do you just nice. Those old RF amps ran better with a x-over, just an idea you might want to look into.
All amp company's used to be better then today, or most at least, There was a time when the HCCA, The Titanium PG's and of course the Punch series were the ****, now I don't know everthings marketing....Damn you DEI, damn you all to hell

I hear what your saying some of the new Fosgate stuff is good, as long as you stick to the higher line.
Lets take your amp for example, killer puts out serious power right? but take a punch 301 from that same era, (the same case on it) and well thats another story. I guess I just loved the old punch amps, the Punch 200 DSM kinda broke my cherry into the world of car audio so I have a sweet spot for it.(lol). I just lost respect for them when they 180'd from underrating all there amps to overrating some of them.
Hell even Sony used to make some killer amps, but now (no offence to anyone bumpin a sony) the Xplode line is joke compared to the amps they put out in the mid 90's.
I guess thats why I run those old school amps (both from 99) and I was looking at buying an old Orion HCCA 2100 competiton from ebay, but I don't really need the power, unless of course I moved up to 2 3512's then I could justify it. Anyway its not practical staying along the theme of the OG post, do you know anyone who is selling just the case to a power 1100a2, mine came with crome endcaps as well as the regular ones and it would match the Xtant so well if I had it dipped or polished, I just dont want to have to go without tunes while its getting done.
One more question, the amps 10 years old, do you think I'll prolong the life of it if I get it re-greased, I figured it cant hurt and wonder how effective the grease thats on there now can be after such a long time on the board

my first system was jl 10w3s and a rockford fosgate 500a2. i had the loudest system in high school. but i ran those same jls through a phoenix gold zx450 and sounded soo much better as far as quality goes. close to the same loudness i do believe the fosgate was a tad louder but not worth it when comparing sound quality
