opinions..upgrading subwoofer
i'm planning on eliminating the stock pioneer sub and box and going with one alpine type r 10. i was thinking about replacing the stock amp with a boss 400w 4-channel amp. what do you guys think. i'm looking for something that sounds good but is still less than $200.

well If I was you I would buy the Alpine type r. Maybe even go 4 a 12inch type r. And them buy an alpine MRP-M500. That amplifier would power your sub perfectly.

i have the same setup and it sounds pretty good for a decent price. honestly i wouldnt mess with the stock amp. let it power the speakers. then use an amp just for the sub.

You can always just upgrade the stock sub in the factory box.
For mine I bought a factory box and but a shallow Memphis sub in it running on a 400 Watt amp and it sounds good.
I didn't want to lose the trunk space.

i just want something that sounds better than the stock sub. you can here the bass pretty good on some rap music but barely at all on rock. and if i hook the sub up to the back of the rear seats would it sound a lot better?

yes i'm looking for it all for 200. how about a boss 2 channel? this comes with a bass level knob and its 400w for $79. and i wasnt planning on moving the stock sub i was planning on just getting a new high quality sub in a different box. i found a used alpine e12 on ebay could get it through bid right now its 60 shipped or theres an alpine type r 10 for 109 shipped. i dont know which way to go.
