I transferred my Red Top from my Monte Carlo into the Cobalt. I had it in the trunk of the MC for about 9 months. I don't have the series or model info on hand but it fits perfectly into the Cobalt's battery tray and the stock cables latched on to the posts nicely.

Edit: After browsing Optima's website, Their 34 series sounds exactly like the battery I have. Hasn't failed me yet. I don't have the details off my batt but this Jegs PN is probably the same thing I have. 753-9002-002

Had yellowtop in my 99 cougar and loved it. Might have to put one in the cobalt as well!
I could notice big changes in the cougar after installing it.

Yep, that's what I got from it.
Blue of course for marine.
The alternator in 99coug was really bad. and I tried putting in so much stuff, extra fog lights (looked like an airplane from the front) lol, whole bunch of stereo sht.
Crusing down highway telling friend "I can turn up the stereo all the way, and these speakers should keep good quality" so I start turning it up louder and louder, then my car shut off cause the alternator blew LOL

The only issue is the yellow top may be a *tad* taller than the stock ACDelco and the back of the spare tire cover will stick up a little, other than that it will be fine.

Everyone says it makes a "big difference"

What differences does it make?

vehcile starts alot easier (especially when cold), accessories never dim with bass, you can leave the radio on with vehicle off for hours on end and it will fire right up, jumps other vehicles easier. plus, with dual terminals it is easier to ass accessories.

Not to burst your bubble, but aftermarket batteries like that normally half only half the capacity as the stock battery, which means they shouldnt run as long as a stock battery would

The point is it's a Deep Cycle battery, it's made to handle the drain and recharge much better than the stock batteries.

optima is not your run of the mill battery. as said above, yellow top is built to handle deep cycle as well as everysay load. i've had a yellow top since dec 2003 with zero issues.

Where did you get that info from?!?!?! Do some research and post proof to back up claims like that before you come out and say some crap which you apparently have no idea about.

Optima batteries are in a class all of their own. Stock batteries suck! I mean come on, one guy left a FRIDGE plugged in all night! The stock wouldn't of lasted an hour or two max!!!

i've also been known to leave my neons on (in my z24) as well as my ENTRIE system for 4+ hours with the vehicle off up at the local tanning place or ice cream place a few summers back with NO issues

I can see them allowing the vehicle to start better, but where your accessories are dimming and compnents are slowing or turning down thats your alternator. Your battery is only for starting and then once the vehicle has turned off. Everything else is run off the alternator. That means your stuff dulling out from bass or a system you need to upgrade your alternator.

The only advantage to the Optima is starting and if you leave things plugged in a LONG time. The AcDelco batteries are great batteries and if you run them completly out you have a 6 year warranty on them!

Exactly! Stock alternator run at 105 amps according to chevrolet.com . If you put in some aftermarket system, you will more than likely need to upgrade your alternator.

Dude, did you NOT READ what I said! ACCORDING TO CHEVROLET.COM, THE STOCK ALTERNATOR IS RATED AT 105 AMPS.

See for yourself, all three are the same rating!

Exide's Orbit battery is a copy of the Optima design. They are pretty good too. Friend melted a trminal fomr hsi header being too close to teh terminal and the battery tested otu fine, it's jsut the terminal melted off the battery, along with some plastic warpage.

I was just getting at the fact that the Stock battery is labelled to be 55Ah, when a Yellow Top is labelled for about 30Ah. The Optima would be able to output more amperage, but in an endurance test, the stock battery would last longer since it has a much larger capacity. I know quite a bit about batteries, I built battlebots before I got into cars...
