yeah i just had mine installed yetserday by bestbuy were i got it. It is pretty cool. But i havent had alot of time to play with it. The thing that sucks is that there was no dash kit for it so he had to fab one, which looks ok i guess. Also he had to bypass the stock amp and i lost my sub and tweeters. But the sound is still good, the nav is great and dvd looks good except for that you cant watch when car is in motion.

I have the avic-d3 and you need a wire harness called GMOS-LAN-04 (with VSS wires), it retains all your chimes, lets you use your nav correctly & everything, didnt have to bypass the factory amp at all, but the wire harness is between 130.00 - 170.00US. I Got my AVIC-D3 from cobaltperformanceparts.com and it came with an install package and mounting kit, but not the proper wire harness.

Here's what it looks like installed. I like it because it looks factory!

yeah i had a feeling but since i bought it there i would have them put it in. But no matter i will be doing so custom work in the truck so i'll get a sub and new interior speakers. He told me he had everything working but had no sound and there store tech somewhere told him he had to bypass the stock amp.

If I'm Not mistaken,

There is a steering wheel control adapter (like 10 -20 bucks), for aftermarket players.

Reallly.....the GMOS-LAN-04 has vss wires? I have an 06 cobalt ls and from what I was told the cobalt had no functioning vss wires. I have an alpine cda9813 right now and are using just a regular harness Metra 99XXXX I can't remember the model number but its just a regular $20 harness. I was content on just leaving the navi just the way it was without the vss but if there is a way I can get vss hooked up I would love the accuracy.. Can someone else confirm this?

The extra harness helps with not only your chimes but your dimmers as well. Chevy runs off of a "can" computer system. If you go screwing around with your head unit enough that other computers see the unit is all screwy, your gonna have some serious complications. If your gonna spend the money for a in-dash i suggest getting the adapter harness for your chimes and the harness so you can correctly use your steering controls. If not, you will probably pay for it later.

Well I work at circuit city and the harness it calls for is a Metra 702103. This is also me looking up a 2006 Cobalt LS Sedan with base system. When I first got my LS I tried a digital interface (GMOS harness) and it didn't work. This 702103 has been working great for my Alpine cda-9813 for about a year now. It should work with th D3 the same way. Maybe because I have the base model cobalt with no pioneer. I know a lot of you have the SS or LT which has pioneer. I was very curious about the GMOS-Lan004 because he said it had VSS wires on it. But this harness seems to be an amp bypass harness in which I have no factory amp

The kit we are selling doesnt have the gm-lan harness. The kit is for the 05-06 models. However as soon as our gm lan harnesses get in there will be the option to switch to what year car you have.

The GMOS LAN 04 is only needed for the 2007 model cobalts. The 05 and 06 use a different harness if you want to retain chimes, rap and onstar. I know this because I recently put in an indash player, didn't have the right harness because I didn't want to wait and now without the chime for the blinker I keep leaving it on and making a fool of my self driving down the road with my frickin blinker on lol

so if you have an 05 cobalt with an avic d3 is there any reason besides more accurate navigation to get the 130 dollar harnest?

Why dont you have your stock amp? With my basic harnest I could use my speakers off the stock amp and my aftermarket deck..just send 12 volts the to the power antenna wire

You dont need it for the door chime or for the dic. But i think you need it if you want to use the stock amp. Like i said i'm not sure about the cd changer i dont remeber seeing anything about that at all. But i could be wrong. Check with whom ever you are getting it installed by or where you bought it.
