I want to buy the AVIC D3 headunit but was wondering what else i need to buy to make it work. All the web sites that i have looked at says that this unit does not fit buy i know alot of people have it. Also where did you get the black face plate that goes around the receiver. Thanks

 

The reason why it doesn't fit, is because of the back plastic/metal bar. Just cut away and bent and it should fit. The in dash kit can be found on ebay or other places. As for the wiring harness that is also needed, would depend on the year of your car.

 

I have an 07 LT and I was told I need some special serial port harness. Is this true? And could someone please give me a link to where I could buy the wiring harness I need.

 

If you have the Pioneer system in your your car then what you need is a Metra Axxess GMOS LAN-04. If you don't have the Pioneer system then I think its the GMOS LAN-03, but I'm not certain about that last one so if someone could confirm or denie that it would be helpfull.
If you read around you'll se that some people used the harnes some people didn't but the 07 and up owners (my self inlcuded) don't have a choice, damn data bus systems.
Let me warn you, the harness is $$$, be prepaired to shell out $150-200

Ebay sells them for about $100. If you're not worried about chimes, then ya I would recommend the Gmos-Lan-03/04. And yes the 03 is for just the basic stereo setup.
